    That was just awesome!

Me, I have both no-lift shift and old school bikes and love them both.
When I go from no-lift shift to old school, it feels primitive. "Wait, I have to roll back the throttle, pull in the clutch AND shift?" Going the other way is easy and makes me smile. Hmmm... Maybe I do like modern better.

I also ride. Used to race; WERA National Endurance (national championship as a crewchief), local motocross, GNCC Hare Scramble (top 25 regularly) and Supermoto (local AND national event in Daytona every year. Still have them all. Garage full of bikes. Don't ride very often, but just can't bring myself to sell them.

    Gents,
the next 'automatic motorcycle' will be Direct Current.

There is defiantly a correlation between 3 pedal people and 4 appendage operators.

Not everyone can. Those that can, do.

I think some of the music died in Maranello when the gated shifter went away, IMHO.

Both my cars have them and I wouldn't consider a new car with paddles.

I must be getting old, or I still find fun with old stuff.

^^^ Great Pic! ^^^ I was wondering what happened to this thread. 99_Carrera, your story was great, most of it I can identify with easily, although maybe not quite as extreme. It can be other worldly to be on a bike, sometimes it makes me shake my head at how few people don't realize it and then the other part of me thinks the secret is best left as is.

I can't place the model.. are the white faced instruments standard?

I used to have just 1 instrument on my 450 Desmo single back in the day.. a big white faced Veglia tacho.. I'm a big fan of large clear analogue dials.. easy to see and read in an instant.

How many miles are on that 06? I had one as well and LOVED IT. My tastes and desires went in a different direction so I sold my 06. Might be my favorite bike I have ever owned.

5500 miles on the 06. Did a trackday at COTA on it recently and it was as fast as most of the newer stuff. Just a great motorcycle.

How much did you pay for it? I had a 06 two years ago and miss it. You have me looking for another low mile bike to scratch that itch. I still think its one of the best looking bikes ever made.
