I have the carbon driver zone with the LED steering wheel. The lights come on when i turn the car on but when I'm driving the don't come on. Is there something i have to turn on to activate it? Shouldn't it come on while im driving on manual? Should i call the dealer to tell them something is wrong? Thanks....

On the 458 you can disable the lights
I'm guessing it's the same in your car
    Go through the settings etc

Basically the LEDs will count up when you reach a certain predefined RPM range, once you reach the point where you should shift it will flash.

pretty cool if you ask me.

If I remember right they start to go on from 5,000 or 5,500 rpm...
I don't think you can turn them off in the California.

vie only gotten up to 3500-4500 RPMs before shifting. I have only opened it up once to 85mph on a back road. Now i wont get to use it again for two weeks ;-(. Something to look forward to....

the LEDS can be turned off, which is probably the case on your car. On my GTO the problem is that at high speed (in excess of 300 km/h, all the LEDS are on and it is a real distraction. So, just turn 'em off!

My LEDs came on on the 150 mile trip home when I picked up my Cali! I don't remember being able to turn them off in the Cali ... I will look tomorrow.

GET ON IT WILL YA?? The factory gets on it, so should you. These are really great cars, not easily broken so get on it a little.

I once had a Corvette ZR1 (or whatever they are) owner tell me that he could blow my doors off. I told him that Don Garlits could blow his doors off too but I would rather drive a Ferrari than a Chevy sh*t wagon ... then he told me that he never had his Vette over 3,500 RPM in over a year ... I laughed at his SAD situation and told him that I might beat him in reverse!

Have fun eith the California, then let us know that the LEDs worked.

    FYI from the 458 manual.

Engine RPM LED on steering wheel (optional)
The five LEDs on the steering wheel rim (available on request)
light up in sequence and inform the driver that the maximum
engine RPM has been reached for gearshifting. When 5500 RPM is
reached, the first LED comes on; the others come on in sequence
    when 6250, 7000, 7750 and 8920 RPM are reached.
The LEDS on the steering wheel can be deactivated using the
MENU screen page on the left TFT display (see page 96): call up
the MENU screen page, select the items “Car setup” and “RPM on
steer” and then select OFF. To reactivate the function, select ON

I wondered about this on my first week of getting the car... but after breaking her in, it puts a smile on my face whenever I see that red LED showing up.... accompanied by the glorious exhaust note.... in fact, this is the first time in my decades of driving that I've not switched on the radio/CD a month after driving still.... nothing beats the engine and exhaust orchestra. NOTHING!!
