the locking mechanism on my adjustable steering column does not do a good job of holding, particularly holding it up. With light pressure on the top of the wheel it drops to the bottom. Does anyone know if there is a simple solution to tightening up that mechanism?

On second thought maybe not, I don't know but I don't see any other tightening procedure. I'd expect to see some king of cam action.

Looks like #28 may be the pivot bolt that rides in the slotted part of #41. Might be that nut #31 is the one that needs a bit of tightening.

I'm assuming there is another bolt #28 on the same side as the slotted bracket #41 since the drawing shows only a single side bolt but the mounting base of the steering column has two bolt holes at its base for the rotation of the column. I've seen clearer exploded views in my day. This one does leave a bit of interpretation without having a set of parts or assembly on the desk in front of you....
