To quote from that McMaster page:

If memory serves me right with the engine/tranny oil pans, where the washer sits, aren't the shanks of the stud not far up enough in the hole (and therefore the stat-o-seal will compress on threads and not the shank of the stud)?...

Thanks for the info! I hope to rectify this problem with the sealing washers. I tried nylocs and thye didn't do the job.
As far as working against the threads------------- Dave Helms reccomended them and I have no doubt his knowledge on F-cars exceeds mine by light years and that is why I am looking for them. lost

I need to fix a tranny pan leak as well and this will be the third time in over ten years I've replaced this gasket. I've always stuck with the same original plain washers/nuts and had considered replacing them with some sort of sealing washer. But upon reading the description in the catalog, that's what triggered a memory of seeing threads and not shank when doing the pan in years past...

I'll try them too and see if it does the trick.

In my search for 6mm stat-o-seals I found a company by the name of Parker that sells a specific washer that seals on the threads and not the shank. Now I need to know where to buy them. If anyone knows please sound off. Lost
