I love this concept. take last gen boxster, rebody it as vintage speedster, add power and handling Porsche would always keep for 911. its like a reverse restomod. really cool imo.

I agree. The idea is very cool. That said, I'm interested in seeing how they look and act "in the flesh".

I haven't seen these before, but they look very cool. Odd choice for the wheels on the Vegas show car, but otherwise beautiful. I'd like to see pictures side-by-side with an original 356 to get an idea of the dimensions. A comparison of the specs with an original 356 would probably be even more entertaining.

Park a 356 next to a Boxster... that's what the Starke is... same proportions.

Ditto with the specs. It's a Boxster.

Leno had a project 356 built onto a Cayman chassis on his show. West Coast Customs had to widen the body to fit it on the 987 chassis. I would suspect the Starke is similarly widened.

Hard to believe no one else ever thought of making a 356 tribute based on a boxster. Seems so obvious after looking at this one. Shops have been back dating modern 911s to look like classic ones forever. This is no brainer.

I get that it's a rebodied Boxter, but would still like to see side-by-side photos to get a feel for how it compares in size to the 356. I can't really imagine accurately how the size of a Boxter compares to a 356 and I suspect they could probably lop off an inch or two on each end of the Boxter with their 356 body. If it's a lot bigger than the original 356, that would detract from the overall feeling quite a bit for me.

The specs comparison I think would be pretty entertaining -- 0-60 times, lateral acceleration, top speed ... would be hugely different between the two.

When I searched for side-by-side photos of a 356 with a Starke, this article popped up about a Subaru-powered Speedster that Jay had featured on his show (Leno YouTube link embedded in article): http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/classic-cars/videos/a31692/this-subaru-powered-porsche-356-speedster-replica-almost-looks-real/

Looks like that car is $34,550 turnkey with a VW motor and $39,550 turnkey with a Subaru motor (http://www.jps-motorsports.com/turnkey.html).

It doesn't do it for me. A 356 roadster (and that is what the blue one is trying to be, a twin grill roadster) and even more so the Speedster has a light, simple, friendly feeling and that is lost in this. Windshield framing and slope alone kills it for me.

Get a 356 coupe instead if you don't want to spend for a cab or roadster.

This is the WCC Speedster. The opening scene shows its size.
