Hopefully they don't go anywhere NEAR this big. I saw it recently and I was mortified. At first I thought the guy had a ****ing apple computer installed in his car!
Interesting question, I have a feeling they will try and ride out the FF name for a bit longer to build it like the California. One side of me hopes its similar enough for me to keep my car and add a 488/F12 and the other side of me hopes it different enough that I will just want to replace the FF as the easy next step
According to my reliable source the roof line is 20 mm lower at the back of the car with a slightly different rear hatch glass angle.
You think 20 mm and a little more dramatic hatch line are going to alter the look of the rear end in a big way? I disagree. 3/4 of an inch? Silly. The lower portion of the rear needs to be balanced out by the top lines. Pinanfarina knew what they were doing. You may not like it, but it's a balanced design. The main problem with the FF is not the design, it's that the line/sculpting in the rear end above the wheel gets lost in certain light, colors, angles. In person there is no problem. In photos it can look flat and huge and ugly. The rear end is also deep, so it needs to upper lines to balance. 3/4" is all they can do because any more makes it bottom heavy. But 20mm does nothing for the shadowing of the rear sculpting, that's just built in.
Sorry to disagree but 3/4 inch - plus a steeper rake on the rear windshield will make a diffence let's just wait to see Feb 15 intro
That would be difficult since the FF is a 2+2 But IMO you can improve it's current rake to something that's more pleasing.
Pleasing to who? The car would lose headroom and cargo ... it's not ugly unless the rear quarter looks flat, and that's about lighting and angles.
In automotive design 2 inches is huge difference. If they shaved off that amount I expect results similar to right photo. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's 20mm kids. 3/4 of an inch. Spoken like someone who knows nothing of Ferrari. Ferrari is about the whole package, and MOSTLY the drivers experience. Style is a piece of the puzzle. Style as a priority is a vain and fleeting fascination for the shallow part of us. And it's subjective. A great car, is objective. The FF is a great car. The F12 is a great car. Anyone who knows cars will tell you that. The California? Not so clear cut.
um I know Ferrari pretty well and if you think they are about the 'whole package' youre probably confusing them with Porsche.
I'm with you on this! I love the usability of my FF. I love how I can take 4 full-sized adults around in comfort and still carry a decent amount of cargo. I love how I have put the rear seats down and carry more cargo. So no thanks to changing the roofline in ways that diminish the car. I think it looks just fine thank-you-very-much and if they don't **** it up then I'm buying another one for sure. I've already got my name on my dealer's first new FF allocation. I plan to spec it almost exactly like my current FF except I'll leave out the rear seat entertainment package and leather trunk and add ventilated seats if they're available with diamond stitching. Mine was a demo so it was configured up like crazy including these first two somewhat silly options. Can't wait to hear more next week! Some of the magazines posted this teaser image which is supposed from the new FF. I really need to see it in full context of the car to be sure but My initial reaction is that I like the way they've given more horizontal space to the lights.
Well we didn't have to wait until next week! I love the new GTC4 Lusso! It looks the roofline changes are pretty subtle and won't materially affect headroom in the rear seats. I love the freshened up design and more ergonomic interior. Well done Ferrari!
