I have read the information about the paint code for the wheels but can anyone recommend a spray paint (rattle can) that will match the color? I have one wheel to touch up.

    From my notes about this,
Ferrari Argento Nurburgring Metallic PPG 36520 is the correct color
    (
BMW Polaris silver is a close match if you want to use aerosols)

But depending on the paint condition of your other wheel(s) you might have to paint both of the wheels on that side of the car
otherwise whatever paint you use, they're not going to match.

Most automotive paint stores can make up a rattle can for you. It can be with or without gloss. Meaning if you get it without, you will have to clear it. It's your choice. The paint store should have the correct colour for Ferrari wheels in their books.
I thought grigio was the colour used.

I used a spray can kit from Eastman on my Lancia wheels in 2003. The top picture is how that held up. Not too bad after all those years.
I did finally get the wheels professionally re-done this winter. Bottom picture is how they look now after a professional job.

How do you find stores that custom scan and mix paint? I've heard this several times that auto parts stores do that, but it's not easy to find them in my experience. Do you know if they also scan and mix single stage touch-up?

Back in the days when auto stores stocked a large number of paint colors, I brought my Mondial 3.2 wheel, and my son with much better eyes than mine, into the AutoZone and Subaru Quicksilver color was a dead-on match -- both as it looked on the cap and having used it to touch up a blemish on the wheel.

Wurth has a wheel painting kit (primer/paint/clear) that is pretty much a dead-on match for Porsche original wheels, though I've never used it on Ferrari.

they have made base clear rattle cans and the clear/gloss added in the paint.
This is the first time I've looked at their website, unfortunately, it's not that user-friendly. I just drive in for products. They are very friendly. It would be worth a phone call.
They took their computer to match one of my vehicles for stone chips on the rocker panel. Made up a rattle can while I waited. Perfect match! $32. (2021)

The NAPA store does the same service in Chatham

I didn’t get any indication that it’s year specific, just that that’s the color they use for wheels.

On my '85 QV with original paint wheels, I got touch-up paint from paintscratch.com, color Fer 101 Argento Metallic, and it was a great match. I found this source here on FChat somwehere. I notice they also sell it in spray cans but haven't tried the spray.

That was my experience also, and Subaru Quicksilver is readily available off the shelf as linked in post #8. Definitely worth evaluating -- can always apply it to a test surface and use something else if it doesn't match, but experience says it's very likely it will match.

There is a Ferrari technical bulletin posted by Tom Shaughnessy in post #2 of this old vintage thread (https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/wheel-paint.42217/). That spec is from 1971 for Chromodora magnesium wheels, but I think Ferrari didn't change wheel paint spec much over the years. I've used Quicksilver on 1986 and 1966 Ferrari OEM wheels and it has been great match.

Wheels from different years had slightly different colour silver paint.

On my 1988 Mondial 3.2, the Wurth Silver Wheel Paint is an exact match.

I thought powder coating is not recommended for Magnesium wheels because of the high heat requirements 400F+it will make the fragile

I have no real credentials accept for restoring my BBS magnesium wheels - but this is what I learned.
Paint is so easy to mess up. Its one of the few things I would outsource. There are tons of wheel specific paint shops that could probably fix it for not too much.

    I love this guy...
