Anybody knows how much torque on the spark plugs for a 348? Thank you to everybody!! I will post pic on the "new" to me 348 when it will be done...........360 wheels ecc...........almost there........
Tighten them till they are firm. Thats the easiest way to do it. ALot of people over tighten them and make it hard on themselves getting the plugs back out next time. Wind them in, then nip them up a little. Thats plenty. Cant wait to see your pics. Cheers.
I will post the pic as soon I will put the recaro seats in Pap. I would really know how much torque...........and just not go with my "instinct" regards
The Workshop Manual says 16nm, which is about 12 ft/lbs, I think. Edit: conversion factor is 0.73756, so 16nm = 11.8 ft/lbs.
Please do not use a torque wrench. There is a paradox here, wherein if you know how to correctly use a torque wrench, then you do not need to use a torque wrench. I recommend you tighten them exactly as tight as the front wheel on your BMX bike. (Because you always fixed your own flat tires, and not the bike shop, right?) Kids whose Dad always threw the bike in the back of the car for a trip to the bike shop to fix a flat tire, have grown up to be the men who should always bring the car to the mechanic. (I'm not saying this is your case) I have seen 100 times more bolts ruined by a torque wrench, than bolts ruined for lack of a torque wrench. JM
Personally I like the torque wrench I think is a good tool!! expecially if you are missing the everyday sensitivity on a tool!!! You can not be wrong!! Thank you Jeff! like always you are incredible.
Well said!! I have installed more spark plugs than I care to remember and even more important than torque is being able to get them off! USE ANTI-SEIZE!! As for tightening them....I bring them down till they touch by hand and go a tiny bit under 1/4 turn more with my ratchet.
Very good. Im looking at putting custom race seats in my 348 also. I would still only nip them spark plugs up. Make sure you dont overtighten......trust me.
This is tearing me up inside. I must know. Are you joking or being serious? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
With new washers:: screw them in until you can feel the washer--then 1/2 more turn. (That is why the washers are designed to crush the way they crush.)

How exactly should one "correctly know" how to use a torque wrench? All these years I must have been doing it wrong...where can I sign up for a clinic on how to use a torque wrench. You set it to whatever setting is called for and torque it until it clicks. Is there any other way to use one? Is there any way one can possibly mess that up?
