Has/had anyone dealed with Southbay exotics in Torrance?
Looked at a few cars there, not impressed with the peep or the cars. No website either. Not that it makes a difference, but it does. Total used car salesman and it was a Murcielago I was looking at not the junk BMW 850 they have. I walked, pretty quicklike too
I saw they are on My Space, didnt see an address from them. I've lived in Torranve for over 50 yrs and have never seen them unless they are the place on PCH east of Crenshaw just before you go into Lomita.
Yes, exactly. I'm not looking for anything just want to know how they are in their sales and service.
The only reason I ask is the black 348 spider they have was my car. I don't have much experience with them.
Ohhhhhhh you mean South Bay Pre-owned. STAY AWAY from these guys, the owner was very offensive and abusive to me and my wife when we went looking at a Jag for her daily driver a couple of years back. I was a cash in hand buyer and they wouldn't even let us start the car without a credit check. Then the owner came out and when he found out I used to be in the auto trade (Jag restoration) he just went nuts for no reason ending up with some kind of racial tirade against my wife. I think he drove a 360 at the time too. I've heard other horror stories too but I don't want to repeat those as I can only testify as to what happened to us 2 years back so the owner may have changed but some of the other experiences were more recent.
Karma's a B!tch sometimes, look what I found on Yahoo reviews: (6 ratings) South Bay Pre-Owned 2475 Pacific Coast Hwy, Torrance, CA 90505 # User Rating: 1 out of 5 stars by BIG RED FLAG 07/21/2009 I would not recommend this dealership. I called in about an add they had posted and was completely verbally abused by the salesman over the phone. He claimed he did not have the car they had advertised yet and that he would have it in two weeks. My question was why would the dealership advertise a car for sale that they don't own. His reply was...was I writing a book? I then asked for his name and he asked me why did I need his name. I let him know that it is customary to know at least the first name of the salesman you are possibly going to purchase a car from. The abuse went on and on...I was completely blown away by the whole experience and say STAY AWAY! I am a serious cash buyer looking for a car...I would not even think of giving these people ANY of my money. THINK TWICE...something is not right. He obviously seemed to be playing the role of the "muscle" / "owner" when we were there, and all of the other guys there seemed more like they are all his puppets. (Take note that we also had the cashierâs check for the FULL amount of the car in hand-it was about to be his.) He then tells us, I quote, "GO POUND SAND" and throws the deposit at us, (which they've had in their possession for over a week), said "deals done, and to get out"....and continues to verbally abuse us as well. User Rating: 1 out of 5 stars by Disappointed 11/10/2009 This place is a severely BAD JOKE! I must admit, I did not do my research on this "business" and was that a HUGE mistake and lesson learned. I placed an ad online for my car. Within 5 minutes of posting, I received a call from Leopold. He claimed he had a buyer was WANTED/HAD TO HAVE this car. He talked me into bringing in my car, and she would come in the next day to look at it. Long story short, it has been over a month of him telling me that he should know something on it in a few days...... my question is know what? The majority of the conversations began with how beautiful I was, when were we going out to dinner? If Leo had spent half the time trying to sell my car as he did flirt with me maybe he could have sold my car. I finally got fed up with the run around and lies. When I went to pick up my car, it appeared as though Leo had been using my car to hold his personal mail in the console and his spare change in door. I wonder how many times he drove it home? The car wasn't even clean! Of course no one would want to buy my car when its hidden in the back and other types of cars are on the front line. I feel lied to, manipulated and discouraged. What happened to doing business the honest way? If you can't sell it, just tell me that. No need to blow smoke up my butt Leo. This is a shady practice! I would not recommend doing business here....buying OR selling! Was this review helpful? 00 Report Abuse | Subscribe to Disappointed's reviews Comment on Review Y! I was interested in a 06 CR-V that they had that was posted on AutoTrader- when inquiring about the car and a copy of the Carfax, the sales guy (Mark) left a message saying that the car was "clean" and that he had the Carfax, and that every car goes to a 3rd party AAA approved mechanic for inspection. This was followed up by an email that still did not give me a copy of the Carfax. At that time, I replied, asking for the Carfax and copy of the mechanic's report that they supposedly have done on all their cars. I mentioned that it was important that I know more details about the condition of the car before I drove 2-3 hours to go look at the vehicle. Mark replied, telling me that I was welcome to take the car to a mechanic, but still made no mention of mech. report or Carfax. I finally paid to have a carfax on this vehicle (vin JHLRD78996C013072 ) , and found out that the vehicle HAD A SALVAGE TITLE FROM FRAME DAMAGE!!! In total, I had rec'd 2 phone calls, and 3 email messages from this place regarding the condition of this vehicle. The sales guy had every chance to tell me that this car was not a safe car and had a flawed title- yet they didn't. I would have driven 3 hours to look at a car, pay to have a mechanic look at it, and (hopefully) find this out... I ALMOST THINK THIS IS ILLEGAL TO NOT DISCLOSE THIS ON AUTOTRADER, AND WHEN A CUSTOMER CONTACTS A DEALER ABOUT THE CAR THEY ARE SELLING. PEOPLE PLEASE: 1. ALWAYS USE A CARFAX OR AUTOCHECK TO MAKE SURE A VEHICLE IS CLEAN !!! 2. WRITE REVIEWS TO HELP OTHERS 3. REPORT YOUR COMPLAINTS TO THE BBB Was this review helpful? 00 Report Abuse | Subscribe to CAN'T GET AWAY WITH IT's reviews Comment on Review Y! Good Job Mark, Its not like us Manchester boys to let someone get away with that kind of abuse. Now i wish they didnt have my old car, but its not mine to sell now.
Just to be clear, I didn't write any of the comments on Yahoo reviews, just copied and pasted them but I do find it pretty damning evidence as people obviously had a similar experience as we did. Caveat Emptor, for sure!
