    Hello,

For my 212 export I am sourcing 48 mouse trap valve springs. When checking the engine we found 2 broken ones and very fortunately on different valves. Luckily a great friend gave me a couple of used ones, but because the risk of breakage of the other 46 is likely I would like to replace all of them when possible.
Changing to regular valve springs is no option at this moment as this is not possible to finish before the MM2010.
There are some bad reproductions around of these, it is not easy to reproduce. They are the same for all 12 cil Columbo engines where the heads were fitted with these type of springs. Some might be a little thicker (3.2-3.5 mm) but that is no problem.

    Any help is welcome,

    Ciao

Hall and Hall make the best proven springs I am aware of.

Patrick Ottis has provided this information

    Not cheap $7500/set as I recall +/-

So, is the myth that you cannot find good mousetrap springs busted?

This is actually great news. I'd cringe every time I hear someone announce conversion to coils.

VIOD is wellknown as suppliers for roadsprings but some 10 years ago they refused to even consider producing mousetrap valve springs!

For now the problem is solved. Got a full set of very good used springs, but I also got quite some interesting contacts. Whoever need the springs, contact me. Conversions are, according to some experts, the best way though.

Yes, please let me know how and where you got these springs. My feeling is that if good replacement original springs are available they should be installed rather than converting to coils. If you wish you can contact me at [email protected]. just one man's opinion tongascrew

While restoring a couple on my older cars over the years I have amassed a number of various older Ferrari parts and a lot of these "mouse trap" springs. these would be original from various ferraris. backchannnel me or e-mail me at: [email protected]
