I have check several sources and can not find an original air intake hose for my 400I, Part #113930. I've been using a couple of hses from McMaster-Carr but the "look" is not right. Does anyone know a source for a hose that looks close to the original?

I used hoses like that for a while but they are pretty ugly vs. originals. See pic of an original.

I'll check Eurospares but they only ship "overnight air" to US which is costly.

This one looks good. I'll order one on line or see if my local auto parts has one that I can see before buying. Our hose is 100 mm, 4"

The Dorman hoses only go up to 3". However, this was a great lead. I went to Summit Racing and they had those hoses plus Dayco hoses for same purpose and they come in MANY sizes, every 1/4" in some cases. Summit does not stock the hoses and they quoted delivery some time in Jan, but I got all of the Dayco part numbers from Summit web site. I first got a 3 1/2" hose and it did not quite fit. I exchanged it for a 3 3/4" hose and it fits perfect and looks real good versus originals.

Now I have a new issue. These Dayco hoses are for heating/AC applications and are made of 'vinyl', not nitrile rubber of fabric like the ones for under hood. Rigid PVC should be good for 140 C (~285 F) but this is flexible vinyl with plasticizer. So I test it a piece of the hose in my oven, which only has a dial temp setting. Hose was good at 150 F, It felt a little soft at 200 F and it fell apart at 225 F. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA HOW HOT IT GETS UNDER HOOD IN OUR CARS??

I'm tempted to try it and see since it did not make a mess when it fell apart.

I dunno how hot it gets under the hood, but please report back if you give it a go, I'll be interested in buying some of the hose from Summit if it works out. Do you have the part number for the 3 3/4" hose? Cheers

    Part# 80174 for 3 3/4".
I still plan to try them but I found a black hose good to 330 F. I'll post a link.

330F is a big temp improvement if the hose looks the goods. Will look out for the link. Do you think the outside airflow through the duct will negate much of the ambient engine bay heat when the car is in motion?

+1 -- the most temperature stressful time will probably be just after engine shutoff (especially if the engine was being used hard).
