Anyone know of any live feed information on the web for the auction and results.

I looked on Sotheby's site but no real-time info.

Memorabilia part of the auction starts in one-hour. I have many client's with cars there and one of my own.

Not really interested in bothering people there during the sale but hoping someone might be posting real-time results.

    Cheers,

    Bill Noon

    Dear Jim,

I simply do not have an answer for you.

The poor and week examples (both car and owner) are due for a tumble.

At the same time, the rare, fun and elligible as well as the educated buyer's who chase and are willing to chase such machines are multiplying.

I sold the GTO yesterday. Very close to doing two other MMDS (multiple million dollar sales.)

Besides my crystal ball has always had a crack a mile wide.

How about I get back to you in a few hours...

    Cheers,

    Bill

I just skimmed the back pages of the catalog and don't see anything about real-time info.

    my 2 lira:
the F1 parts bin stuff will sell like hotcakes - neat things that would be really cool to have and won't break the bank.

the production cars - I just don't know why a smart buyer would pay:
    65 to 75k for a 328GTS
    145-165k for an F512M
    75-88k for a 308GT4
    120-140k for an 84 Boxer
I think the Sotheby's ranges for the production cars are high.

I think the race cars w/ provenance and a significant race/driver resume will always be big money, and I could see a serious red mist happening at this particular auction particularly for the 50s and 60s sports racers. A Le Mans winner will always be a legend. Prepare for crazy sales price for the 412S, the 330TRI/LM, the 246SP/196SP, and maybe for the 121LM.

. . or tomorrow by this time I'll be the big donkey.

I dont think itwas such a matter of there being no buyers for the higher value cars but of the difficuty in buying a car located in Italy. I most certainly was interested in buying something but doing so was going to be a bigger hassle than it was worth. There most likely will be a few cars sold post auction ............maybe.

The people who were there had a different view. Check out the previously mentioned thread in the euro section.

The auction was run terribly. First, it was about 110 degrees F, and they did not sell drinks at the event. Everyone was hot and irritated. The PA was bad and you could barely hear the actioneer's voice. He ran through all of the cars in a little over an hour and a half. None of the history of the cars were given, and the cars where not brought on stage. A small picture was flashed, sometimes incorrectly(a 308 GT4 recieved the same intro and time as the 412 or the 330). In a very perplexing move the auctioneer, hit his hammer for every car, pretending to sell it.

People were terribly confused. I cannot answer whether there were buyers present or not, or whether the bids were real, but I can tell you that the action was run terribly.

As for some of the reserves, I was privy to a one or two and they were not higher than the current market for the big cars. On the other hand, the cheaper cars sold for a ton of money. A 512TR sold for $180,000 US with commission. So I disagree with the assertion that the cars priced right sold. Many factors affected this auction.
