This thread is a summary of what owners of 308/328's have done to their cars, and what they recommend to anyone who buys one. Post here if you have suggestions as to what a new owner might want to consider buying/installing in order to enhance their enjoyment of their new toy. I will begin: You might think that the factory pedals are sufficient, but once you try the aluminum ones you'll never want to go back. I especially like the solid feel of the dead pedal. So that's my suggestion! http://www.ultimatepedals.com Image Unavailable, Please Login
First thing... check ALL fuel, oil, and coolant lines. Replace as needed. No need to have another car burn to the ground.
Cheap performance upgrades I suggest are, Direct Fire Ignition (Digiplexis SUCK) Fuse box upgrade (a must)
The pedals are here: http://ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?products_id=224390 The dead pedal is here: http://ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?cPath=600_523&products_id=224318 .
Then I'll continue...... Steering Wheel Extension from Hill Engineering. This isn't expensive and puts the wheel much closer to where we North Americans want it. http://www.hill-engineering.co.uk Image Unavailable, Please Login
Shocks, springs, a-arm bushings, larger anti-roll bars, modern wheels and rubber, lighter exhaust, etc.... These mods make the car surprisingly modern! Greg 1977 308 GTB
Oil cooler fan. BIG HELP. I placed a fan on the engine side of the oil cooler and ran the switch to the Rear Defog switch in the car. I never use the rear defog so this make it look look like nothing was added. Temp goes up in traffic, I throw the switch and relax. It pulls enough air to suck a piece of paper in the air scoop. Unless you are looking very closely you won't notice it on the oil cooler. In fact no one ever pays any attention to it unless I point it out. No drilling and cheap. Takes about 1 1/2 hr to put it in (running the wires is what takes most of the time) By the way, I have a 84 model so I don't have the push-button type defog switch. It has the little toggle style in place of the antenna switch.
1. Replace the 20+ year old relays- about $100 total from RockAuto.com. 2. replace thermal radiator fan sensor with 180 degree ver. 3. upgrade gauge lights with brighter lamps.
The headlight mod of installing a couple of relays seems to be a very good idea to upgrade the output of the exicting lights and also to protect the irreplaceable switch. I'll get around to doing it one day! I.
Upgrade your headlights. See this thread: 308/328 Headlight Shootout - The Results Are In! http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65424
Hardwire and permanent-mount Valentine V1 radar detector with concealed display. Detector goes to the right of the rear-view mirror. Wire runs along the top through the right A-pillar, to the passenger footwell. Concealed display goes right above steering column, mount on top of where the VIN number plate is on the steering column.
Install larger aluminum shift knob. Also, consider using a "slick shift" gate to improve shifting experience.
Replace all lights in the car with modern, more efficient and brighter bulbs. Includes brake lights, signal lights, reversing lamps, fog lights, front parking lights, etc. Contact: Daniel Stern Lighting, http://www.danielsternlighting.com/.

Consider installing a Voltmeter in your car. It's important to know how the charging system is behaving. See: My Voltmeter Install - 328 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=63862
If you have a 308, consider getting in a new fusebox. See: Aftermarket 308 fuse box? http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22713&highlight=308+fusebox and upgrade 308 fuse boxes to modern ones http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29884&highlight=308+fusebox
Stop bending over and messing with keys to unlock your doors. Go with a Keyless Entry system. By far the #1 thing I've done to improve my experience with my 308 and 328. Take off the stock cat and anemic muffler and put on something that will allow you to hear the wonderful sound of the V8. I reco Stebro - half the cost of a tubi and sounds better IMHO.

Consider putting in Goodridge brand stainless steel brake lines. Kits are available for both 308 and 328. Order from www.demon-tweeks.com. See: SSbrake lines for a 308 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57026
If you have an earlier 308 with metric rims or 14" rims, consider updating the look of the car to 16" rims, either 308 QV Rims or aftermarket 16" rims. Source for the latter are: www.superformance.co.uk
