Err not literally,I meant in his VERY personal life!!!!! As I understood(heresay??)he had to offload some toys for a payout.
Simon, respectfully suggest you have the wrong thread, if not the wrong forum, by a long way. My last words on the subject.
I took them all out for a drive tonight. Beautifull weather to cruise around here in the Netherlands. Image Unavailable, Please Login
To me there's a big difference. First of all the 365 is carburated and makes the engine feel much more agile. Throttle response is a lot better I think, the injected 400 feels 'lazy' after driving the 365. Altough the 400 isn't really 'lazy'.... The sound of a carburated V-12 is so much better, but that's me I guess. The other big difference is that the 365 feeld lighter and handles better than the 400. Altough my 400 has new bushings, shocks and rebuild levelers in the back. To me the 400 is more a cruiser and the 365 for the backroads.
i hope both you guys are doing well...but i think you both mean 400 i ...not 400. Jim, could you please touch base...i need to pick your brain about what you did with your A/C modernization/upgrade. thanks, brett
You are right Brett, should be a 400i. Big difference between a carburated and fuel injected versions. We are doing great, getting used to Europe again......
Soooo true, the carbed 400 is a totally different car than the 400i. I have never driven the 365GT4 2+2 but I can imagine that the 400 will compare the the 365 more than to the 400i. Can anyone compare the 365GT4 to the 400GT here? cheers Peter
I drove my 400iA from Orlando to Savannah, leaving on Thursday evening arriving in Savannah that night. I watched the track event on Friday, Friday evening went to Tom Yang's coctail party, participated in the Concours on Saturday, Saturday night Gala, and the 101 mile Tour on Sunday morning. The tour ended with a Low Country Boil lunch and awards ceremony, The lunch was awsome. In fact, all the food provided by the FCA was OUTSTANDING and I had evidence of that when stepped on the scale Monday morning! The 2 photos are on the Concours show field and in the hotel parking lot. After the Sunday events wrapped up around 1:30 PM I pointed the Ferrari south and drove back to Orlando. The car performed perfectly the whole trip. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here is an other small video of a carbed 400A for comparison. Really fun to see that my 400 does a good job keeping up with the more modern V8s in a straight line [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSB1a-Wx0o4[/ame]
Full tank of EtOH free gas ($55 for those keeping score at home). Nice long drive to get everything up to temperature, then a quick bath. I really like this car... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
$55 for a full tank??? Just not fair, I paid 170 euros last week for a full tank in Holland. That, my friends, is according to the current exchange rates $240. Living in europe is an expensive hobby No driving here this weekend. It has been raining for 2 days straight. The roof of the garage was leaking a bit, so if the sun comes out I will have to fix that first.
It may be expensive, but you can cross into Germany and still drive these cars the way they were intended. 70 mph limits are all too easy to hit here.
At the very least Flinch left a one off in front. At $4.00 a gal. He could be going next door and siphoning
i really like that car too... as i've metioned to GreggG, i'm really tempted to paint my GT4 red as well...not crazy about it on the later cars but i really love the way it looks on a 365... and it's so much more beautiful in person...you really need the car in front of you to fully appreciate it.
Thanks Brett. I really didn't plan it to work out that they were all going to be red/tan, but the 365 is rosso sir ivor, and it really is much more appropriate to the rosso corsa of the 308 or the Mondial. Hard to convince a digital camera that they are two different shades of red... Image Unavailable, Please Login
My wife and I ran our '84 400i from Mid Missouri to Minneapolis, Minnesota and back over three days this week. It would have been two days but 7 inches of rain south of Minneapolis convinced us to stay another day. The car ran just fine for most of the 1236 mile trip and turned in 17.6 MPG at 70 to 75 MPH. While there we changed the plugs from the OEM Champions to Bosch Platinums. Idle RPM moved from 750 to 950 and the sound of the exhaust changed. MPG did not change. We switched the plugs for no reason. We had the Champions out while playing compression check while my wife was at her meeting and thought "Why not?". For those interested in the miles the car didn't run just fine, have a look at "Fuel Foam". Should the symptoms ever strike, you might have a better comfort zone than we had.
I've never been a fan of red as every other blinking Ferrari is red, but have to say it looks really good, gives a more sporty impression
here's my dull blue one ;-) out on Friday, reading that overheating fuel issue makes me feel slightly better about the S**t weather here in UK (did you see the Golf over the weekend!) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Been using my 412 as my daily driver for a couple of weeks. Been a pleasure- decent A/C, fabulous ride and the big V12 roar when you need it. Pulled up at the Ritz Carlton in Boston yesterday to pick up a fairly important business associate and a small crowd formed around the car- a few guys even knew exactly what it was. The red leather interior always blows people away- I should start charging $50 a head to give rides around the block. Parked in a downtown garage- then back on the mass Tunrpike headed home- 92 degrees and humid out- perfectly comfortable in the cabin... touched 125 MPH briefly... Enjoying this car immensely!
