I bought my son a slot car racing set for Christmas. He likes it, but he doesn't seem to like it as much as I do...at his age, just under 6, he kind of prefers cars he can push by himself, and probably isn't quite ready for these. I, on the other had, am already addicted, and packages of new cars, track, and accessories are arriving almost daily around here. I've managed to hide most of it from the Wife, but I'm pretty sure I'll be getting busted soon. I'm into the Scalextric stuff, and it seems like they're releasing a "must have" limited-edition car every other day. I CAN'T STOP!!!!! Anybody else into slot cars?

Its addictive. I had to sell all of my equipment as I am moving to an apartment in another state. I have one left that I am putting on Ebay, a Schumacher Ferrari with correct Marlboro markings.

But to feed your addiction, and keep up with new releases, sign up for this e-mail:

    Their newsletters announce new releases.

I found that the best track is Carrera, as it is wide enough to use 1/24 scale cars.

    Dennis,
I used to be into slot cars, been out of that for a while. I did though just discover that there is a track that just opened up in Milford. They seem like really good people, they would let us have a Track Night where we have the whole place to ourselves, and (drum roll), they would look the other way if we wanted to bring our own beer!

I could envision that we could have an open competition using what you already have and/or buy similar cars and paint them to match our personalities.

OK race fans, here is what you've been waiting for: I reserved Thursday Feb 9 at Cloverleaf Racing in downtown Milford:

    http://www.cloverleafracing.com/

It is in the basement on the west side of the street, near the jeweler.

It will be from 5:30 - 7:30. Cost is $10/person, this includes cars if you do not have them. If you do have your own cars, of course bring them.

We can bring our own refereshments!

It is on right now, item #320837234970. The cars in the background are gone. I also will be selling my new unused Pegasus 1/24 scale chassis. These are from Japan, where they prefer highly detailed resin or plastic bodies. I started to build some bodies, model kit bodies, putting driver, roll bars, even keeping opening hoods with the scale engine. But my hands got burnt in a car accident, so no more. Besides the move.

Check out the other Ferrari stuff I am selling.

That was done so that the bridge didn't block the view of the main straight too much.

Here is an on car video of the track. The car is a Fly Ferrari 512S Coda lunga.

While we are on the topic of slot cars, a friend of mine is looking to sell his slot car collection. This collection is well over 700 cars. Below is an idea of some of the cars he has, this from an email discussion I had with him.

Alfa Romeo Formula 1 car (I have two),
    Miller Bobby Rahal Indy car,
Dale Earnhardt Wrangler car (new on a Blister pack) ...
Lots of AFX Ryder Trucks and trailers and the Truck Terminal tracks
Lots of Ferrari 312PB and 512M race cars,
The 612 Can Am Ferrari in red and yellow,
at least one new 365GTB4 race car
Brand new on blister packs Faller (German HO) Volkswagen Beetle, BMW 2000 (or CS), Mercedes 230, I have open/lightly used Faller Opels, Porsches (356), Mercedes sedans, Fiats, trailers, VW Buses, VW Beetles, and at least one Citroen
oh yeah, maybe one or two Ferrari GTOs
Most of the "new" from the mid to late 90s up to today is unopened
a new (I think) in the box Porsche 908
a Mario Andretti Lotus, I have the blue Essex car
    F1 cars from the 80's and 90's
    NASCAR cars from the 80's,
GTP cars from the Porsche 956/962 era,
INDY cars from the 80's and early 90's
A few cars from the late 50's/early 60's called "Vibraters" - they were AC

Obviously there is a potential for some very rare cars in this collection. I believe he would like to sell the entire collection at one time. I am working to get pictures of each individual car. Please PM or email me for more details, and I will try to answer any questions.

    Dennis,

I started mi son with the same set and now look at his collection...

PS, for young kids, the F1 cars break easy because the young kids dont know how to control the speed . Thats why you see the Ferrari/Lambos they are designed to take "abuse"

I agree on the addicting part. For me I buy so many because they are all so different in the way they run. There are some older Ferrari's made in resin and I enjoy collecting and running them the most. The Scalextric cars run very well right out of the box and have good detail.

Looks awesome!! I found out the hard way about the F1 cars!! Now we have a couple Ferrari 430s that don't seem to mind the impact!!
