Ski Season Update

Sorry Jon, we are leaving Breck on the 9th of Feb, just missing you guys...we could have you guys up to house for drinks and dinner....keep us posted on any futhur trips people are making and we will try to cooridinate a F- chat get together at the house...Seppy S

 

Snow is up 25% over 30 yr average.

Skiers up 7% this season to 12/31/10.

Life is good.

 

How many days are you up to now Phil?

 

Only 21. I know people that have 49 under the belt.

 

Wow - I'm at about 11.

 

I'm at zero due to recent back surgery but tomorrow I'll be at 1

Off to Breck for the weekend - another 7" last night - tht's about 3-4' for the week - crazy!

An estimated total of 114,200 people attended ESPN’s Winter X Games 15 over four days at Buttermilk this year, blowing away the previous record by nearly 40 percent.

“I guess I had thought we had already hit [X Games’] carrying capacity,” Aspen Skiing Co. spokesman Jeff Hanle said. “I think this year proved that to be wrong. The infrastructure [is dialed] and our experience doing this improves every year.”

We have had 148" of snow since Dec. 23rd when I started tracking it. Hence, the snow is really great this year.

Went for the last time of the season this past weekend. Excellent year!

Yes, the snow is great.

We got 22" in 24 hours on Monday, a record (21.8" in 1996).

The Mayor declared it an "Epic" day.

I heard Tahoe is getting some late blasts also!!

I just bought new boots.......let me get the snowboard bindings next.....

Nope. I ski. It took me too long to learn how to ski to switch now. Hard to teach an old dog like me new tricks.

Tahoe usually gets huge dumps. they measure their snowfall in feet instead of inches. But we get champaign powder and they get wetter snow which is great for snowboarding but not so great for skiing.

 

Yea, it looked soggy at the lower elevations, they are breaking 25 year records for total base...this is her hammock!!! LOL!

I'd feel the same, except that a lot of surfing greats (Gerry Lopez) have taken to snowboarding like a duck to water....I'll bet I could do it.

I hope you got a brand (Vans, DC, K2) with a Boa lacing system. If you bought Burtons, you might want to return them.

What problems did you have?

Tightening snowboard boots with cloth shoelaces is not fun.
