I've been biting my tongue for some time now, but here it is: Tifosi is plural. One person cannot be "a tifosi". One person is a tifoso (if he is male) or tifosa (if she is female). The crowds at Monza and Imola are composed of tifosi because there are more than one of them. A group of female fans only would be composed of tifose. I just had to get that off my chest. Thanks.

Thank you for the correct use of the word Tifosi. My Italian is limited as I am attempting to learn conversatonal Italian. I speak four languages and phrases of several orhers. I hope to add Italian to the list shortly. My interest in vintage Ferraris, sparked the interest.

    Ciao...Paolo

A love of Ferraris should be accompanied by a love of the Italian language. I've written articles for Northern Prancer, the newsletter of my local FCA region, with "tifoso" (i.e. fan in the singular) changed to "tifosi" by the editor without asking about its usage. This error appears in just about all publications, from the most modest to the most authoritative. Thanks for pointing this out!!

I've always said, if you want to know about anything Italian, find a Stewart, and if you want to know about anything Scottish, find a Franchitti...
