Other than the obvious difference, how reliable has both designs been? Fuel pump failure common on a F355? Anyone had a failure on one side of a dual design?

I believe it's not the pump which usually fails, but the less-than-fuel-resistant gaskets and boots which deteriorate and gum up the pump. It's a known problem. Ricambi USA offer better gaskets/boots, etc.

Both have been reliable. Redundancy was not why some had 2 pumps.

Been on the forum a long time and I concur very few times people have reported the issue so likely is not that common.

Agreed. I think the main difference is that with one fuel pump you replace one fuel pump when it starts to fail. With two fuel pumps you replace both fuel pumps even if only one begins to fail (just in case). You convince yourself or the technician convinces you that the other fuel pump must be ready to fail soon and you can save on labor costs.
