Anybody make a slicone hose kit for the 360? They would look trick with red hoses.
Hi Steve, We make a red silicone intake hose kit. It comes withe the two larger hoses shown in the picture below. The two smaller ones come with the carbon fiber airbox covers. Please let me know if you have any questions or if you would like to place an order. Thanks! https://www.fabspeed.com/ferrari_360.html Jeff Image Unavailable, Please Login
Regardless of whether they are worth the money or not there's no way I'd fit those rigid hoses in place of the OEM "bellows". The bellows are there for a reason and that's to compensate for the engine moving (on its mounts) relative to the airbox (which is fixed to the chassis).
In a moment of ill thinking, I bought a set of their hoses. For $350 I received two short pieces of red hose. There were no clamps! WTF!!! I sent them back and got a refund, but what a rip off! I had some black silicone hose that I bought on-line for use on my supercharged 993 Porsche. I got three foot of hose for about $40. I cut two pieces that fit nicely and used some Zebra hose clamps from Wurth. The hose makes a nice Venturi Effect due to a bowed profile. The hose is flexible, but won't collapse and stays in place. I have many miles on the car with no issues. If FabSpeed price was maybe $50 for the pair with clamps, then it would be worth considering. Just my $0.02
Don't know what the required diameters are but here is a primer: Straight Silicone Hose- TREADSTONE PERFORMANCE and/or Stainless Steel T-Bolt Hose Clamps : BoostController.com LLC - America's Source for High quality turbo boost controllers, silicone hose, and more performance products - 877-836-6155- precision boost control. I was curious about that price, since the cost is currently $175. I looked up your order, and the price was $350 back in 2007... agreed that is high. You should have gotten clamps, sorry about that. I will offer them to Fchat members for $150 if anyone is interested. Thanks. Jeff
I'm in need of replacing my coolant hoses as some of mine are leaking. I looked at the Scuderia Rampante hoses and it's crazy expensive for their kit of silicone hoses. $1500! Is that really worth the price? Are there other options?
i replaced all my coolant hoses with silicone and for about a year, i had to put in about a cup of water every few months. not a big deal and maybe worth the piece of mind for a longer lasting hose. my mechanic recommended changing to gates with the green stripes and my coolant loss has been almost zero. maybe half a cup of water added in one year. this is my personal experience, yours may vary.
It might well be, for what one would expect to be a very high quality, well conceived solution as typically offered by that company. Sadly, I don't think they have yet developed a kit for the 360 just yet. Maybe in time, when more cars are calling for replacement. They do have the 8mm hoses which bleed the radiators back to the expansion tank.
The factory hoses always have flexible bellows on all cars so that mechanics can work easier and faster when replacing hoses on air intakes. The bellows restrict airflow significantly due the the internal corrugated liner interior. On all cars there are significant airflow improvements verified by actual dyno runs. Power is increased along with sportscar sound and throttle response. In the 6 years I have had my 360 spider and been selling straight hoses for 355, and 360 cars and many Porsche cars Never Ever one problem with any engine . Bellows are unnecessary. Have a great weekend
Interesting mention Joe. The flow straightening concept, to achieve laminar flow or some representation of it, in a tube section is 10 to 1 to the best of my knowledge. This means that the inside diameter is measured and then the length of tube required to straighten the molecules into a "straight" or non-turbulent stream must be 10 times longer than that measurement. This can be achieved with honey comb inserts or a bunch of small tubes stuffed inside the desired flow stream. If laminar flow was important to the combustion chamber you can bet that it would have been done already. The bellows are necessary to service my air filters and MAF's but I am a bit restricted due to the GruppeM airbox that I have so stock air box guys may be OK with non-bellowed sections but it would be a real bear to get that stuff apart without the bellows AFAIK. YMMV You make me a sexy red bellow tube section and I am all over it!!!
