    The eye of hurricane Ike is forecast to travel over the top of our house or 5 to 10 miles east of our house. We’re hoping for the eastern track.

    Gasoline is gone, as is ice. We have plenty of both. The grocery store shelves are empty; we have plenty of food.

    We’ve boarded up the house and taken everything inside. We didn’t realize how empty our yard looked without all the plants, etc.

    The “toys” are safe and sound sleeping under their covers in the garage The trucks, etc are on their own in the driveway and street.

    We expect 40 to 60 mph winds by 3pm today. 65 to 80 mph winds by 7 tonight. We’re expecting winds in excess of 80 to 100 mph for over 6 hours starting around 10pm or midnight.

    We expect to lose power and have been informed we should expect to be without power for as long as 2 weeks.

    We have prepared, we have a plan. We are not afraid, just anxious.

    3:44 and all is well. We still have power. The winds have picked up a bit but no big deal.
