    They are usually period updates. I am aware of less than 10 cars with side vents. They look OK, the tan dash does NOT.

    Would there be any impact on value? I guess they are an option and they are standard without.

    Rob,

    There are a number of these cars with side vents and hood vents. And the vents actually tend to compliment the cars. It would be safe to say that so long the vents are period and appropriate, and they are installed nicely, it wouldn't matter to the value.

    I think they look so great I would consider putting them on after the fact although that would be sure to hurt value as it would no longer be original.

    From my vantage point, discount a PFII with hood scoop delete and no discount for a PFII with intakes.

    Do the side vents do anything?

    What about these details
    * the vents on the side
    * covered headlights
    We owned the car in the late seventies, I am wondering where this car is located at this moment

    Looking at the top of the fenders and door, it looks like a S2 Cab with a removable hardtop. This set-up results in a huge overhang behind the rear wheels. Looks out of proportion when compared to a coupe.

    They do aid in heat extraction, but most seem to have been done for cosmetic reasons. Here's a photo of s/n 2407 a 400 SA cab. I believe the vents were added by Harley Cluxton in the mid 1970s.

    It must have been this car I saw parked in the downtown area during the Monterey weekend. The car I saw was red. The front looked very nicely done. I am sure it was a Pininfarina job and not aftermarket.

    I'm not sure about side vents but the seven 250 PF Cabriolets with covered headlights are s/n 1727; s/n 1761; s/n 1941; s/n 1961; s/n 2041; s/n 2393 and s/n 3085. Per original PF records

    AFAIK, Pininfarina production records contain no remarks whatsoever on any Series 2 cabriolet having any special features (except for optional full leather interior and/or removable hardtop). Only documented case with closed headlights I am aware of is 2041/GT, where original invoice written by SEFAC to Luigi Chinetti Motors Inc. says: "extra charge for streamlined headlights: 200"***. Most of the others - if not all of them - are later conversions. 2005/GT has also reported to have closed headlights, but I have never seen photos of it.

    Do we know the chassis number of the closed headlight/HT car appearing in this thread? Do we have any additional info, like owner names etc?

    ***I think you are aware of this... ;op

    Best wishes, Kare

    Sorry Kare, you are right, it isn't in the PF records, I shouldn't have written that. I don't have my books with me and thus can't quote sources but those 7 cars were, I believe, delivered to their first owners with covered headlights.
