wow...nice bikes, I was on the waiting list for the 07 R1s, but cancelled due to their recalls. I will wait until next year when they have everything sorted out. I don't have too many individual photos of my bike, but it is the Daytona Blue Gixxer 750 in the pics. My friend's is the K7 600 and another friend is the owner of the 05 ZX-10R. My 750 has, a CF rear hugger, front fender, and tail section from OPP Racing that is stuck in customs, a CF windscreen, CF mirrors, CF look brake/clutch levers, Demon undertail/fender eliminator, BMC Race Air Filter, Factory Pro Velocity Stacks, Full Titanium Ti-Force Exhaust, and a custom mapped Power Commander III. My 2007 1098S and 2001 X1 I probably should have done the same for the 1098 but after waiting over 5 months I couldn't resist Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is my 1993 Yamaha FZR 600 I owned from 1999-2003. I bought the bike from a mechanic who had maintained it in its previous life as a race bike. The bike had been raced in GP racing for several years (not sure what circuit), and had raced at Daytona and Laguna Seca among other tracks. The bike got to the point it was no longer competitive, so the mechanic bought it from the team, and went through and refurbished (new rings, new transmission, rebuilt suspension, carbs, etc)while putting the lights and various other street-legal necessities back on it. He drove it for about a year before selling it to me. It still had a full racing suspension, big bore piston kit, bigger carbs, cams, etc from its racing days. It was ridiculously fast for a 600, while being VERY light and flickable. I could easily match and usually outpace 750's in acceleration, and of course eat them up in the corners (or more accurately, a good rider could eat them up in the corners with my bike, just not always me!). The downside was that it was a bit high strung, and the carbs were very sensitive to temperature changes, so I was constantly fiddling with the jetting. But I had a ton of fun on this bike, and hopefully whoever has it now is doing the same! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wade, what are your thoughts on the 1098? Are there any recalls/problems with them? A friend of mine who totalled his R1 this spring is waiting for his gap protection to come through and says that he is going to get one. Very nice bike BTW.
Thanks! Yes, this bike is so...! Man, I don't have the words, it's that good. Your friend is probably timing it just right; letting the first year bugs work themselves out (if there really are any). Pick almost any vehicle and its bound to have a recall or two (except my 2001 Buell X1 ) and the 1098 has had two for the early ones. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/mcn/2007/May/may15-20/may1407ducati1098recall/ If you read the Ducati boards there's some rumbling about the bikes stalling, but I'm on the fence about the subject. Mine's been good, really good
Well according to him, his gap protection stuff should all be taken care of by the end of this month/first week of June, so he will be getting the brand new 1098. Glad it's a good bike, as I'm sure he'll let me borrow it from him once in a while lol.
ohhhhh,buddy... dont even open the Buell can'o'worms. I sold mine, even though I loved it, after Buells put a couple friends in the hospital... and not through their bad riding... the tube frame Buells turned out to be downright dangerous.
Yeah, I hear that a lot But those were the early ones; same as with Fieros and Corvairs. The last two years of all three were the best.
The ex-race Yamaha, the Ducati 1098, the blue Suzuki - I love it all! Keep it coming!!! (man I want a bike )
