You can make arguments both ways. I moved my car to my neighbors as often as possible when the house was being showed. If nothing else it keeps people from messing around with it. Trust me after seeing some stupid things "left" at my house, i wouldnt leave the Ferrari behind.

I would just leave it in the garage, Thats what I will do when it's time to sell my house (not for 11 more years tho).

So, if I have a '94 Toyota Camry, should I hide it? I would hate for a prospective buyer to see it and say "They don't have a lot of money, so let's low ball them...they'll probably take anything for the house if they're that poor."

Seems rediculous to me. The only reason I see to hide the car is to avoid people being tempted to get too close to it and put their paws on it.

I couldn't have said it better. I've had 19 homes. When the house goes for sale I make sure the Ferrari is in the garage for all the reasons John stated.

Maybe. But F-cars tweek the subconcious. For instance you may have a wife that is sensitive to the "Playboy" image which could be a deal killer. You'd never know though. So why risk throwing that into the mix if you can choose to keep things neutral? It could certainly work in your favor if the potential buyer is a player guy for example but they may represent 5% of prospective buyers. JMO.

I had mine sitting inthe garage and after a group of realtors went through the place (from the same company as a tour), they remembered the house well because of the car, the people that bought the house asked if i could work the car into the deal and I think if anything, it had a positive effect. It tells people dont haggle I dont need the money, if you want the house then pay because you dont have me by the balls. Basically the same as said above by another poster. I would do it again.

I would ask the real estate agent to inform you when a serious client is scheduled to show up. Then drive up in the car and give the impression that your interested in buying your house RIGHT NOW. Pull the agent away from the client.

Let us know how this works.

I'd leave it there, because if they do offer you a low ball offer, just say "Thanks, but no thanks." And if they truely are interested in the house, they'll make another, higher offer. If you hid it, I don't think it would change much on the offers. Also, no offense, but the general public generally views those with Ferrari's as stiff A-holes, when they aren't really, so they may not even bother with a lowball offer, because they know you will never accept it.

I think if people see the 328 they will think "He does not need money, so he will not have to sell." I think you would (if anything) get higher offers.

That is true. I would move the car if people will have to walk right next to it to get out of the garage. I don't think it would hurt to have a Ferrari parked outside.

Are we talking about selling a Mil plus house or a 200k house? Big difference in buyer. In the lux home market it wouldn't matter one bit and frankly I think the first timers market is driven by price and if the price is right and the house shows well, whats in the garage shouldn't matter.

    Everything in life is relative.
If the car fits the house, leave it out in plain view. If the car is worth as much as the house hide it before you get reported anonymously to the cops for drug dealing.

If you are afraid that the Ferrari will make buyers think that you are rich, are you going to remove your nice furniture and antiques and replace them with lawn furniture or IKEA? How about your clothes in the closet? Better get rid of those expensive clothes, right? Do you have expensive china or silver on display? Big screen TV? Don't forget to remove all of your family pictures. Buyers draw conclusions from those as well. Better yet, just move all of your stuff out now. Then you will be totally neutral to any prospective buyer;) The F-car is just another item among many that buyers will use to form an opinion about you.

Now, if you are worried about someone scratching your 328 while you are away, I think that would be a reason to move the car. Some people allow their kids to run wild and some people just don't have a clue. The real estate agent will probably let a prospective buyer do anything if he thinks that it will help sell the house. I could easily envision a kid with chocolate all over his face and hands and bubble gum on the seat of his pants playing "drive-drive" in your car. My father has had antique cars all of my life and you wouldn't believe the number of times he has returned to his car at a show to find exactly what I described above. Usually, the parents assist the kids into the car:(

New angle here... I just got back from checking out a house I'd like to buy. I was a bit worried about the neighborhood, as I know nothing about it and the people/crime/etc in the area. As I drove in, there was a guy playing with his daughter in his yard. He had a modified C5 vette in the driveway and an SRT-10 in the garage next to an Escalade. Definitely put my fears to rest about having a Ferrari in the garage in that area.

It doesn't matter if the car is there or not, at the end of the day is them that need to buy. You will recieve offers no matter what I think, if not then hide the furniture, the china, the plasma, cat and dog... I mean what if the buyer is psychic!

My opinion: If I saw a house w/an exotic it would DEFINITELY make me remember the house.

When shopping for my house, I didn't give a rat's ass about what was in or out of the house. I was able to see it with all the furnishings removed (for the ones that were still occupied). I saw houses that were very nicely finished and some that weren't. Didn't affect my buying decision one iota! I knew what I wanted and that's what I shopped for (as my real estate agent mentioned, "You don't want a house, you want a gas station!" :D )

The arguement can go either way. Do what your gut tells you. If you leave it in the garage (or car port ;) ) just be sure to post a BIG sign on the car cover to PLEASE DON'T TOUCH! and make sure there's plenty of room for people to maneuver around (the garage was the first "room" I looked at).

BTW, place signs on the toilets saying the water is turned off so please don't use the toilets. And remove the tissue paper (Kleenex as well). My g/f sold her house and we couldn't believe the number of morons who used the toilet and didn't flush
