Hello can any SF90 owners confirm what a full tank range for it would be on casual driving with a hybrid drive mode? I've seen people say 1000km+ because of the hybrid system, you can really drive it economically. Is this true or not? For a long roadtrip this seems like a good car for that reason. Or is 400-600km more realistic?
I only drive it in Qualy and sometimes in electric so wouldn’t know what the range is but that’s an interesting question.
I'm thinking of making a longer roadtrip with very little if any petrol stations (through rural areas etc) and I'm choosing a car for it. I will ask the dealer as well, but if anyone has any figures in the real world it would help a lot. And after that I'm giving it to my grandma for whom it will be very important as well... /s
So you don’t own one yet, but are considered buying a 600k supercar to maximize the range for a long road trip after which you will give to your grandpa who is concerned about range as well?? It think @Jo Sta7 has the correct response.
Ok I have no idea if the OP is trolling or not but I would like to mention something quite relevant to this, irrespective of the battery charge if you are running out of fuel the car will stop, it will not run on electric only if the fuel tank is empty. I’ve learned this the hard way during a Ferrari organised event where they failed to gather us all at a gas station, long story.
OP has been a member since 2019 and only just posted this. Unlikely to be trolling also being mindful of language and culture differences. @EauRougeF1 are you able to post a photo of your ride? Seems the question stems from not knowing if the car can transport him to his destination without refueling along the way which seems to be problematic. Fuel efficiency is good too but likely not of primary concern for most Ferrari owners
it's a legit question to me. so, if you run the car in 'hybrid' mode, it does mostly what you would expect: depletes battery and then turns on the gas engine to charge the battery back up, engine off again, deplete battery, etc over and over. you'll notice a few different icons in the 'electric fuel bar' - including one that indicates it is going for a full recharge (after you go below 0 range on battery) all of this, quite amazingly works together to give you prius type fuel economy. (yes, i said that.) if you are a flat road, and you turn on cruise control at 60-65mph, you will average over 50 miles per gallon. if you don't turn on cruise control, you can still see this same kind of economy but you need to be gentle with the throttle. you can get similar performance by doing it all semi-manually. drive along and run the battery down, then when it is super low, put it into *qualifying* mode. This is because in quali it will fully charge the battery to ~16 mile range. mind you, you are driving calm and smoothly at 60-65 mph in this mode still. then once it is 'heavily charged', you can switch back to hybrid (or electric only). when you switch to hybrid, the engine won't turn off right away unless you basically ease up on the throttle so much that you are barely even touching it. then it will flip back over, un it down, and repeat. you can still get over 50 mpg this way.
How’s the McLaren F1 fuel economy? I’m interested in buying one for a road trip and then giving it to my dog.
Asking as a future 296 owner, is it good for the battery to drain and recharge repeatedly? Is there a strategy to prolong battery life?
Fuel economy is great but your problem may be the view out of the windshield. It will come down to the type of dog you have. If it’s a corgi or smaller I’d probably go with a Mclaren 570. If it’s a golden retriever or larger the F1 would be a perfect buy.
Thank you a lot! This helps and I got my answer. To anyone else, the grandma thing was a joke.... I put the /sarcasm tag. And I'm completely serious. Of course I still want to drive spiritedly with the car, but I'm trying to understand if my idea to drive through eastern Europe (where I'm from) and explore some of its rural places is even viable in a car like that. About myself. I've been lurking for 5+ years and never posted because I'm still young and it was a dream to buy a Ferrari. I have been reading everyones stories and looking at the pictures. Now that I'm in a position to fulfill my dream, I'm reading more about the different models and how they would work in real-life scenarios. I will post more here when I actually buy the car.
this site is just plain wrong. the car can drive 16+ miles on electric alone. i do this regularly when i go to the store - i dont even turn on the gas engine at all. regarding a drive through europe, you will be fine, especially in the cities which ban combustion engines in their downtown areas. however, you will be very crimped for storage space!
That’s the data from the EPA. Take a look at your window sticker and it has the same info on it. How they come to that conclusion, I have no idea.
I pinged Mac F1 on Mclife - waiting on response, lots of guys give their dogs their F1 cars. Bruce Enzo & Stroll. SF90 - closest I will get to F1.
They actually have a “test course” designed to simulate real traffic in a few settings and then they mush it all together.
Very mature response. I like that. You made someone look like complete ass without even trying. Lol. Please do share pics when you get the cars, and I hope that day will come soon!
