Can anybody recommend a garage for servicing a TR located in the county of Essex in the UK?

Try Grimaldi Engineering in Halstead. I have been using Rob Grimaldi for over 10 years for my 512TR and other cars. Amazing - quality of work and attention to detail are second to none, and very friendly and approachable to boot. Prices are competitive as well. A far cry from some other better known independents and dealers.

Grimaldi's website is quite low key especially in today's world of flashy websites. When was the last time you used them and for what, if I may ask?

Agree, but the flip side is that he is fully focused on the cars, and keeps his other overheads low, which is what I want. He currently has one of my cars for service, with another about to go in for an engine out major service. I have also used him non-service work - e.g for replacing the diff carrier on the 512TR, and was done very well. Also PPIs.

Equally I have tried in the past far "flashier" shops (a certain other XX Engineering springs to mind) with far less satisfactory results, particularly around carrying out needless work. It took me a while to find Grimaldi (because, as you say, they are low profile), but haven't looked back since. I drive 110 miles to him each time because I feel it is worth it.

Feel free to PM me if you'd like further colour.

I can also vouch for The Ferrari Centre in Kent. One of my Ferraris lives there and they did the UK conversion of my F512M. Roger Collingwood, owner, is former racer, enthusiast, and great chap.

Thanks for that. Anybody familiar with Hoyle Fox Classics near Maldon? I met one of their mechanics at the London Classic Car Show yesterday. They had a nice though pricey 288GTO for sale - | Hoyle Fox Classics

I ended up taking the TR to Roberto Grimaldi in Halstead. I had a very positive experience and everything I saw made me think that I can trust his workshop for both minor and major work.

Thank you all for all the recommendations. This forum is great.
