Yesterday I listed a '19 Caddy XT4 for sale on Autotrader for $32k, the interested buyers the moment the ad goes live is nuts. I'm thinking some are fake or con artists. I've sold a few cars this way and there's always some replies with strange names , strange email addresses that don't match or make sense, far from me area codes or weird comments or grammar.

Figure I'd post a few replies:

Are you free tomorrow, i will like to come check it up ? Is the price negotiable. Email me at [email protected] for swift reply. i don't check the auto trader email.

Question, what is your best price, why are you selling it and I can't make it there with cash, due to the nature of my job, Also I'd like to know if you accept cashier check as payment once it clears your bank then i will ask my mover to come for the pickup and get back to e ASAP if that work for you ?

It has been 4 years, but I'll never do AutoTrader again, I was overloaded with text/email spam, low baller brokers, and tire kickers.

    yup

maybe 1 out of 10 is real. I've sold a few but not all using them. They are now only $50 bucks , used to be more. They're also easy to get going, I don't know squat about ebay, cargurus or cars.com .

I've received leads on here , but they were higher end cars

Those all got to be scam emails... Except maybe the guy asking if it's still available and event then... It's probably a scam!

Anyone asking you to email them is almost always a scam. Anyone asking you to text an android number (green text) is almost always a scam.

Just about every online sale platform is filled with scammers these days.

Maybe just say “phone calls only”?

get the burner app and rent a phone number just for this. It’s $6.99/mo
