Anyone know if there's a clean, not too shaddy place in the city where I can pull the F car in for a quick exterior HAND wash myself? (*note, not looking for detailing here, just a place I can give her a sponge bath. I just don't have a driveway or a hose nearby and I can't do it outside my apartment building or in the garage I park it in...)

Plan to do this tomorrow (Saturday) so any leads appreciated. Thanks!

if you do choose to go to a self service car wash, make sure you bring your own mitt, sponge, everything. Only thing you should be using there is their space and water.

Ha ha... Thanks for the offer Nip. As for just doing it outside by a meter, where would I find a hose?? :D Besides, I'm pretty sure I'd get harassed by the occupants of whatever building I'm parked in front of...

Yep, got all that, Anuj. All I'm looking for is one of those places with multiple "bays" with a hose and a drain... We had tons of them in Texas, guess they're not a New York thing... What are people like me (i.e. live in the city, park in a public garage) supposed to do for quick washes without detailing?? No time (or money) to do a $200 - $300 detail job every time the car gets really dusty, and the next best thing here in Manhattan (at least the one semi-professional, clean place I've found) is $80 for a hand wash....

There are definitely no do-it-yourself washes in NYC...sorry to disappoint.

However, the car wash on 47th & the West Side Highway does a very good, very professional hand wash for $25 - $30. I have used them extensively in the past.

Ha ha.. YES! In a perfect world, I'd have one of these every time the car got dirty. Know any girls who'd volunteer?? :D

Thanks for the tip, Noah! I'll check the place out. I've used the one further down on the West Side Highway (forgot what it's called but it's pretty big and I think it's in the 20s). They charged me considerably more...

Second that! I will bring the Z down for a nice wash later this afternoon.

If you really, really, really, want to do a self-wash there is a place off the first exit in Brooklyn that I've used. I'd go, but I don't have any cleaning supplies with me (finally emptied the boot).
