I scan the forum for interesting topics in all subheadings, and what struck me is how the 458 forum doesn't seem to have near the frequency of new threads posted in regards to problems or issues as say for example, the 360/430 forum.
Could be that the 458's just aren't old enough yet, or may indicate improvements in construction, etc.
    Just an observation.

7 Year Warranty. Most simply send it to the dealer instead of diagnosing issues.

That is only on 2012 or newer though. Still don't hear about many problems even on the 2010's and 2011's.

3 year warranty, 7 years of service, so warranty is about the same as the 360/430. Just think they are a better car, better transmission, better electronics, just more modern. They seem to have learned from past mistakes.

There were some transmission problems with the early Italia models 2010 MY. Even as late as 2012 MY there were some shifting issues reported occasionally. Have not read of many issues with the transmission lately though.
Getrag the German company who supplies the transmissions for the 458 was recently bought by Magna International; a Canadian company.

I recently sold my 2013 Italia with 10,000+ miles on it (mostly hard driving & track miles). The car was absolutely bulletproof. No engine, transmission, drivetrain, suspension, or brake issues whatsoever. Apart from regular pre/post-track maintenance and the annual service, the only thing that ever had to be fixed was a seat actuator motor (covered under warranty).

Seriously, the most hassle-free car I've ever owned.

Don't get me started on my Nissan GT-R: shocks replaced front & rear... twice!... transmission of course replaced... front brake calipers replaced... lots of annoying electrical issues... Japanese reliability? Heh...

3 year warranty, unless you extend it, 7 years maintenance.

I just turned 28K miles on my 2012 this weekend, by far the most reliable Ferrari I have ever had, in fact its more reliable than many daily drivers I have owned!

My extra paid two years of full warranty on my 2010 is about to expire. Is it worth it to pay
$5,000.00 per year for the "new power" warranty, which is available for the next 7 years?

I had a chance to talk to the guys that run the Dream Racing track in Vegas. They told me that the 458 is their most reliable car of out everything they run out there. It's also their most popular choice among customers and has the most use on it. The one I saw had 80k+ miles. Speaks volumes to me if the car can handle hard track miles in the vegas heat day after day.

It's a pretty reliable car. The biggest issues in 2010 (when it first came out) were DCT problems.

Mine had a problem with warning lights from catalytic convertor overheating. It turned out to be a software issue and easily fixed.

In short, the 458 is very reliable and later production models more reliable then early production models as they sorted through the DCT issues.

That being said -- I think all cars today are much more reliable today than the past. Much is known about what "goes wrong", they know better how to test and in different climates, computer models do abuse tests, and quality control of the manufacturer and parts supplies are better. Remember that a lot of things like electronics are supplied by the same people who make millions of similar items the same year. Ferrari and exotics use as a basis the same technology and manufacturing process as a Toyota.

I think Luca put more emphasis in the engineering department to be more aware of design flaws which makes the products more reliable and less likely to hit the company's bottom line.

No issues with mine, almost 10k city / highway / track miles.

When shopping for mine, I also noted that the 458 seems to be the most capable "car" that Ferrari has ever made. My experience has borne that out.
