  1. Needed to close the field for "entertainment" value but wnted to be sure we saw the debris....unlike Cuppin'..... :D

  2. Anybody notice the #7 Acura has turned the fastest lap? 3 tenths quicker than the next. 'Just food for thought.... :)

  4. Not soooo many moons ago (but yes, before GPS...), some really got lost at night on the dark, poorly marked runway run down to the Ulman Straight. ;)

  5. Oooopppsss. 'Cept for the #90 only .1 slower. 'Don't know how I missed that 'til now.

  6. And even though the 7's outa the hunt, and so is the 77 Mazda, it (the Mazda) has ripped off the quickest 24 thousandths quicker than the Penske.

Again, what's the sense you might ask? Same answer.....NEVER give up!

For once I agree with you. Never understood the online play-by-play stuff. Surely people who are interested enough are watching it and if I wanted running commentary I'd probably pick Twitter. The worst example from today is another forum where a guy is posting pictures that are so bad I think he's at home photographing his tv screen.

  8. Agreed. But in this case I was sincere. Many years ago when I first got a camcorder, I was so preoccupied with the taping that I realised after the race that I really missed it.

  9. btw, whathappened to the Penskes? I haven't heard FOX mention them.

By design? Penske/Acura not wanting the bad news spread?

I noticed the same thing a few years back taking my DSLR to the race track for shooting photos. I've cut back on it quite a bit now for the reason you state.

I've been following live scoring on their website. I have a hard time following it any other way.

When I'm shooting a race I have very little idea of the activity besides the (obvious) race leaders. I even get annoyed with friends talking about stuff because they just can't seem to grasp that I saw the event only through my viewfinder.
For the same reason I don't take my DSLRs / lenses on vacations preferring to rely only on my phone. Perfect for a few snaps, can even get the odd artsy-fartsy shot on it, no distractions, no security worries.

Nice race, all deserving wins, impossible to make the call on any class and thankfully no yellows into the last hour. ;)

A much more exciting race than the Rolex 24 was.

I'm surprised at the Penske struggles. I thought they'd be polished from the start.

Nice to see the Mazda nearly make it to the end before breaking soon. It shows promise for the shorter races.

I'm guessing we will see some BoP on the Lamborghini before the next race.

The BoP changes are interesting. This is what happened in between Daytona and Sebring:

    Prototype:
Acura DPI got a 3 liter fuel reduction

    GTLM:
BMW M8: 2 liter fuel capacity increase. Less power at and below 4k RPM, but more between 5-7.5k RPM.
Ford GT: 2 liters fuel capacity decrease.
911 RSR: 2 liter fuel capacity increase.

    GTD:
Huracan had 1mm larger air restrictor and now same as the R8 LMS
AMG GT3 1mm reduced air restrictor and 5kg weight reduction

I think those changes were obvious with yesterday's race with the exception of the Lambo.

I'm curious to see if they give the LMP2 cars any help after this race. Yet again they are struggling against the "fairly balanced" DPi cars.

I wonder if the 'fair' is going to be close to parity once away from the headline events of Daytona and Sebring. IMSA may want the home grown stuff to do well at their showcase events and be happier for real parity, or even slight advantage, at the less prominent events so they can claim 'parity' over a season but keep the big money manufacturers happy for the two events that get 90% of the whole season coverage.
