I'm glad it wasn't the Delta Wing. I like the variety that the Delta Wing brings to racing. Not sure I'd want to be the driver though.
A similar crazy move by the #87 out of contention PC car at the 6 hour mark. Spins and returns to track without assistance from nearby marshals, leading to him wiping out the class leading #08 PC car of Tagliani.
Very frustrating trying to watch this streaming broadcast. First, they bury it so its next to impossible to find. Then, it runs for a few seconds, cuts off for a few seconds, lather, rinse, repeat. I'm giving up. BHW
Bad move, but there seemed to be something fundementally wrong that send him into the tirewall in the first place.
How could they be that thick to penalize the wrong car when the incident with the Ferrari was caught and replayed several times on Speed. Idiots.
Hey Michael, how are you? Guess I got lucky. Watched the last three hours live on FOX 3 in Mexico. Problem was it is in Spanish, I speak Spanglish, so I had no idea of details. Still I enjoyed watching, looked competitive.
I guess its a much different experience being there than it is watching some type of broadcast. It was non stop action for me at least. The Viper coasted past me around the bend and soon caught fire. It was a lengthy yellow as I watched an ambulance, fire truck and front end loader make their way past. I passed the time talking to the gentleman next to me about the past forty years he's been going to the Gatornationals. He had some great stories. Lots of cars couldn't stay on track and there were a couple spins each qualifying session and that was just at my location. The Lamborghinis spun as well. Just after the 12 Hour start an LMP car spun right in front. He tried to pull back on the track but got caught on the embankment. I thought it was kind of crazy when three track workers ran across the track to give him a push with other race cars flying by just a few feet away. I'm all for safety first and to error on the cautious side. If it takes a little longer so be it. I had plenty of things to do at the track and at times a break is almost welcome. I'd just head to my car and relax a bit sipping a cold drink while checking out the Carrie Underwood lookalike parked next to me. Turned out she won the bikini contest. Nope, I didn't mind those long yellows at all
like Daytona, great racing marred by poor officiating and race management. I don't like the trends I'm seeing from IMSA/NASCAR let the big boys race and stay out if it... crowd was awesome, great experience, gotta love Green Park
I enjoyed it a lot. Close racing between DP's and P2's. Good job of BOP'ing them. Crowd seemed to be enjoying themselves. The LM GT's looked great.
yes, BoP was much better. still think the DP's are getting "the call" but whatever. GTLM is amazing, some of the best racing in the world IMO. if you can go to Sebring and not enjoy yourself as a fan you need to seek therapy it's a giant party with a race running through it.
The TV coverage was crap. No wonder people are loosing interest in the series. If 99%of the people who can't get to the race, can't see the race on TV, they won't be wanting to go to the next one.
I watched the entire race on my computer, my IPad, and then went out for the evening and watched it on my phone with one earphone in so I didn't zone clear out from my peeps. Yes Guy! Green Park WTW. Never seen anyone roast a hog at the racetrack.
I was disappointed in the TV coverage but being able to watch it streaming online with my computer hooked up to my TV with no commercials, just the patches of silence during the "commercial breaks", was fine with me. Too many full course cautions for me but there were some big crashes that needed cleaning up. All in all, more interesting than the F1 race and I plan on getting more familiar with the classes and cars racing now in sports cars.
PWC is going to be epic this year but not really a substitute for ALMS/GA/TUSC....not endurance racing. it's sprint races in GT cars. but yes a great series, and getting better.
I'm with you on this. GTLM is some of the best racing I've seen in years. Anyone can win and the competition is unreal. I am a big Patrick long rsr fan though too.
