I'm thinking about a jet boat for the lake house. My lake isn't too big so I don't think I need anything bigger than the SCIC since I have a fish and ski boat already. Curious if anyone has any experience with this boat or any jet drives??

The boats run good but arent good on gas. We have some seadoo jetskis and my only experiance with a jetboat is a Seadoo that was like a 1996. There extremly fun and not to pricey Id buy one for sure.

What would you like to know? We have a Sportster SCIC and a 370HP Speedster...The Sportster is a blast but the Speedster is more suitable for all around use, also is now available with the twin 215hp motors which should be a blast....If you get a speedster stay away from the 310hp models, underpowered and the gas consumption is worse than the more powerful engines....Also you will take a harder hit on the resell with the 310hp.

Work you a deal, no one pays anywhere close to msrp no matter what the dealer says. We paid $27k out the door on teh trailer for the Speedster and $15900 for the Sportster.

My lake is only a few miles long and a mile across so I think the SCIC is perfct for me(no kids). I've found two 05's for sale (215 hp) for about $14,800 but I'm wondering if I should keep looking for a dealer who will sell me an 06 for invoice which I think is around $15K. Do you think I should spend the extra money and get the tower? I can see myself doing some wake boarding, skiing and tubing. Also, I know seadoo has an extended warranty that I'm thinking about adding as well. Did you see the Speedster is now 430 HP!!!!!! Any issues with weeds and the jet drives??? My wife's cousins haven't had any issues with their jet skis so i'm assuming i'll be fine.

I've never driven or been in a SCIC but I've seen some great videos.

Take the SCIC for a ride and you will be impressed, the acceleration and performance is very impressive. I gps'd ours at 62mph in slight chop, the boat just glides over waves. We only pull a tube so we have no need for the tower, thats all personal need. If I were you I would get a brand new one, you can work a deal because they don't exactly fly out the door. No problems with weeds or other debris, has a button to keep the drive clean. Join to Seadoo forum and they will answer any questions you may have.

    Murcie,
What do you think of the Challenger 180 with 215hp? I was on another board and noticed a post where someone only paid $16.5K for a 21K bought. Plus the current deal included a 3 yr warranty. I'm wondering if the 215 in the Challenger is going to be fast enough.

Do yourself a huge favor..... research Yamaha Sport boats B4 you purchase a Sea Doo.

15 years in the powersports industry, two dealerhips. Sold 'em all. Bottom line, Bombardier products are much more likely to have numerous problems and can make ownership a very unplesant experience.

I'm sure others may/will respond that they have had bombardier product and "that they are the BEST!" but anyone in the industry who will tell you the truth... they have three to four times the likelyhood of a major mechanical problem than a Yamaha.

Statisticly, there is just no comparison between the two brands when it comes to reliability. It's not even close.

    FWIW.

I just bought the 2006 challenger 180 cs. Very nice boat, I am very pleased with it. Somone lied to you if they say they paid 16k when the sticker is 22,900...dealers are not budging maybe more then 1500.00 I called dealers all over the whole state and in GA also. Nobody was budging much more then that. I got the 3 year warranty and I think the promotion for the warrnaty ends this month.

As for sea doo not being reliable, back when they were 2 strokes, Sea DOO was ****..now there 4 strokes are un beatable from what I read. I looked at the sportster but its to small. 4 person seating it to small. 8 people fit very comfortably in the challenger. I got the boat because the lake I live on only allows up to 18' boats and it was the best new boat I could find for the money.

that price was on an 05. he mentioned his dealer wouldn't budge on an 06. in the end i'll probably just go with the scic since i rarely have more than two passengers at a time and i keep reading about the insane handling of the scic.

If you have 2 people most the time get the SCIC, beat the dealer down off an '06. They can either sell it or sit on it and dealers are'nt in business to sit on stock.

I would jump all over a 430hp Sportster if I was in the market....I wonder what the true top speed is with the extra 60hp? I have seen 62.8 with the SCIC which is a little faster than when it was brand new. The Sportster is ually around 57-58 but I have been told some break 60mph. These are GPS numbers, the speedo is much higher.
