Right folks, I am thinking to pull the trigger and sell my F430 to buy a Scud. The Scud has always been my dream car and now with a bit of sacrifice I could get one but the thing is.. is it the right time to do so? I've bought my F430 only last year and I could already sell it for a profit but the Scuds are very high and here in Europe I see lots of them collecting dust for silly prices in the car market. Market has gone crazy in the past years and nothing can grow forever and my only concern is to spend lots of money on a car that could depreciate very much - I still remember that about 3/4 years ago you could get one here for 150k €! Right now it seems impossible to find one below 200k and I wonder if they will ever get below this bar - if you consider a non limited edition model like the 296 would cost you at least 330k with a bit of options today, I guess the good old days where you could buy even a second hand Ferrari for a fair price seem gone. I won't buy it with the idea to make money off it but only to enjoy it but still, I think most prices nowadays are like a bubble and this is my concern.
You mention dream car and you can make it happen Sounds like the right time to me… Dont feel guilty Bless us with pictures once it arrives!!
@Marco91 : There are no guarantees in life. I had a friend who was planning on restoring a rare 1960s American car but died and it never happened. I had another friend who kept talking about getting a certain car for years and died before he could get one. My boss, non-smoker, non-drinker, marathon runner died of a stroke at 48. I"m not trying to be a Debbie Downer, just pointing out life is short. Sounds like you really want a Scud and I would pull the trigger. So what if you pay a little more? Maybe if you wait till you are 90 and these cars can be picked up for cents on a dollar/pound/euro what would you life experience be? To steal a line from a sneaker company "JUST DO IT".
If the market were to shift and pricing dropped back close to where it was a few years ago, would you still enjoy the car? If yes, and you could afford the possible hit then buy and enjoy. I too am in love with the Scud and wish I made a move into one a few years ago instead of buying/selling other cars at a similar price at the time. None of us can tell the future so if you have the means to make it happen then go for it.
I would say now is as good as anytime. Really don’t see scuds ever coming down in value again only up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It isn't a good time to buy one since pricing is still inflated, so it really comes down to your financial situation......if you are in great financial shape everywhere else in your life and still have money to burn, no problem buy whenever you want. You mention it would be a bit of a sacrifice, so if that means doing dumb financial things (robbing your retirement account, financing a large part of the purchase with inflated interest rates, etc) you might have a different decision than the guy with big money. Great car though, the only Ferrari I have driven (from 355 to 458 regular model) that I would buy.
Get it. Like my CS purchase, was it the best time? Maybe so, maybe not. Either way though I'm happy. If the Scud market price falls $50,000-$100,000 in a few years, would you still be happy you bought it and got to enjoy it all those years? If yes, then just get it. The prices will be back up and past in years later anyways.
Scuds have always traded from 175 to 225 from the high mileage to low mileage 2009 with right colors Now they are trading from 225 to 275 approx About 20 25 difference which I think is causes in majority due to BAT bidding I think if you find a private party with a great car ..just get it ..even if it is 20 percent off the lows I so believe the scuds haven't appreciated as much as others in the Ferrari lineup and it's time will come .. over 350 etc Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
Buy one! I just got one in May, best decision ever. With only 1500 made they will appreciate. But that's not why I bought one, I'm never selling!
You only live once mate, if it's only 50K+ Euro difference then go for it if you can afford it. **** the re-sale value if it's your dream car, no one is promised tomorrow so buy one and enjoy before it's too late.
The question really depends on your time frame to own the vehicle. It will be by far one of the easiest Ferraris to maintain, especially as a mid engine v8. If you’re serious about buying one, price won’t matter…color, options, condition, and history will matter more emotionally and $ wise.
right time or not I have had 2 scuds over the years... sold one and missed it now have another and truthfully they are just a blast to drive really different then the F430 .. I think they should be worth more then they are...so go for it if you have the funds...for what its worth I prefer a 2009 just because its the last year and in the USA the economy was bad so sales were lower than many think....
That was where I started, until I drove one. I found less of an emotional connection to the 458 then the other cars in my garage, and actually came to this forum with my conundrum that my dream car did not inspire me. It was on the same forum that the Scud was recommended. After a lot of searching, I flew out and within the first mile of driving was certain it was the car for me. The emotional connection was unlike any of the others. Two very different cars that solve for different things. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
100% agree. I drove a 458 as well and it felt more gt cruiser to me with the dual personality of the car. The scud on the other is all drama all the time. I simply love it.
430 Scuderia, one of the best cars ever made. Due to the fact that all new cars are a lot heavier and have no drama anymore, the Scuderia will only go up in the future. It is a good time to buy one as the good ones will be kept and therefore finding one will become more difficult.
Scuds went through the up and down cycle. Now, they are only going up! We live everyday and we die once! Just get one and never look back.
I bought mine in 2011 and did not drive it too much in these 12 years. But every Kilometer in it was great fun. I wouldnt sell it or trade it in. Those cars , at least in Europe will not be made again. The pure loud sound of the car and many other things not allowed anymore now and in the future will make you say, „if I only would have bought one“. By the way, same with my Pista or my 550. They will stay for a very long time. It is the right time to execute Dreams and to have an automotive great time before it is over. Image Unavailable, Please Login
weight is a huge part of the experience ... I like the new MC20 but it weighs not far off 50% more than my scud ... and the MC20 is a carbon tub! similarly, the 992 GT3 RS, probably the most accomplished sports car on the road ... lightweight? yes.... but at least 100kg heavier than the scud.
Guys, would like to hear your opinion about 3 potential Scuds I found here in Europe: They all have the exact spec I want except for the n.3 1- Priced at 200k € with 78.000km Pro: High mileage means I don't have to worry to be gentle to use it Con: Seems expensive for the miles, I think it's worth it 20/30k less than that 2- Priced at 215k with 54.000km Slightly more expensive than car n.1 but it's a more fresh example and it has just 10% wear of the clutch 3- Priced at 224k with 34.000km Pro: I think it has the best price/km ratio, will be sold with a new clutch Con: the only option missing in my wishlist is the LED steering which I LOVE as much as the racing harness Is there a way to find a second hand LED Scud steering and fit it? What would be the price for this switch? Also, given the fact that this is my dream car (and also that most cars nowadays are boring) the idea is that I will never sell it so.. how much should I care about that mileage at this point? I feel like the car n.2 could be the right one
