((Literally, that's what this wonderful creation is. A crated electric motor.

Even better, it's a bolt-in setup gunning to replace one of the most common crate engine choices out there, GM's small-block V-8.

That is because the EV West Tesla powertrain bolts up to small-block V-8 engine mounts and can be hooked up directly to a driveshaft, so you can fit it into your small-block V-8 project and keep your rear axle as-is.)))

Actually curious about the weight of that unit and how much the controllers will end up costing.

Either way, I doubt the range will be anything remotely impressive.

    • Rated Power: 400-450kW or 603 hp

    • Torque: 800+ [lb-ft] at the yoke

    • RPM: 8000 max at the yoke

    • Current: 1000 Amps

    • Weight: 300 Lbs

    • Input Voltage: 275-400 Volts

    • Length: 43" Inches

    • Width: 13.5"

    • Height: 15”
A normal Tesla battery weighs in at 1,200 pounds. So 1,500 for the electric drive train versus SBC of 550 pounds + 100 pounds transmission + 120 pounds of gas (20 gallons). 1,500 pounds versus 770 pounds.

Almost 800 pounds more weight for the edrive. Deal breaker. Based on the weight.....even at 603HP and 800 ft lb torque moving the weight would probably negate performance. Additionally, a bit more engineering work would be needed to strengthen the chassis, locate the battery and upgrade the brakes.

Was hoping it would be a crate motor V8 that could get INTO a Tesla and replace the electric stuff. Guess not...
