Sorry if this has been discussed before. I recently read that Ferrari stopped using Schodoni leather in their cars sometime around '02 and started using a 'cheaper' brand. I can't believe that F would use inferior materials in their cars. Anybody know if there is any truth to this?
schedoni doesn't supply leather for the interior of the cars. connaly hides were used until connaly wnet under. currently, frau supplies the leather. schedoni supplies leather goods for ferrari.
I do not think Ferrari ever used Schedoni leather in it's car interiors...Connelly leather is what Ferrari used for decades in it's car interiors to the best of my knowledge...I believe Ferrari now uses Poltruna Frau leather for its interiors... I believe Schedoni was used for luggage and accessories only.
Shedoni does little leather bits inside the F1 cars (more tokens than anything). Luggage for your F car. REALLY expensive other stuff (duffles, briefcases, etc).
I note the recent Factory store briefcases etc are not Schedoni, but another vendor.... Frank is correct, Conelly went out of business not long after the UK herds were ordered destroyed and burned due to Mad Caw disease......not sure if it was related..... Vintage luggage will all be Schedoni, dunno about 612 or 599, any owners here have sets?? *grilling thick ribeye* Ahhhhhhhh HA HA HA HA HAH A! *eyeballs rolling crazy, drool dripping from lips*
Hey Bubba, can I get madcow disease from my leather seats? Oh well, throw me on one of them big juicy steaks. I'm off to buy some plastic seat covers.
....no, the uncooked prions have to settle into your brain....they are not destroyed by the heat.... Plastic covers are good and swear off of hot dogs.........mmmmmmmI was raised on hot dogs...
it's actually in the nerve and brain type soft tissues no chance of getting it from steaks at all.....it's where they combine the lesser cuts into ground products that it goes WAYYY up......... Spaghetti tonight!
Poltrona Frau is an extremely high end brand in Italy. They sell residential chairs which retail >$4000. They also design interiors for Maserati and BMW, and do luxury yachts as well + first class cabins in commercial airliners, retail store interiors (Bulgari, for example). The company is publicly traded in Italy (PFG IM is the Bloomberg ticker). They also have Cassina and a couple others brands. Some of their designs are licensed from the estates of Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright. I won't say they were "inferior" or "cheaper" than any other provider.
"Vintage luggage will all be Schedoni, dunno about 612 or 599, any owners here have sets??" Didn't get the luggage, but the owners manual pouch is from Schedoni.
heres a cool thread about Schedoni Leather Simone is a true old-school italian gentleman!!! http://www.robbreport.com/Articles/Style/Accessories/Style-Racing-Form.asp
From about 1987 (?) & up to about the date you mention Schedoni were supplying the leather wallets for handbooks. Then they were replaced by some cheap contractor with a very inferior product. Not sure if Ferrari have re-addressed this shortsightedness.
Been to the factory, got a golf bag from them. I got o see a lot of F1 seats signed and with sweat stains!!
Samsonite. There may have been a full-leather option on some of the older/classic cars. A 328 owner (who's had multiple Ferraris) told me his car had a rare, optional. "full Schedoni interior". However I've never validated this. http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/WebX?14@@.ef0b213/695
Schedoni did do the interior of nineteen USA 308 GTS cars that were sold through Hollywood Sports Cars. Chassis numbers are: 24835, 24917, 26037 26079, 27719, 27761, 28363, 28371, 28507, 29043, 29215, 29307, 29693, 29767, 30101, 30117, 30581, 30619 and 33029. Schedoni provided the leather to Ferrari for these cars and a Schedoni employee inspected the interiors before the cars were relased. Schedoni upholstered a single 328 for Chris Vandergriff (Hollywood Sports Cars) in the late eighties. I don't know this serial number. Steve
Years ago I recalled seeing a 328 with a Schedoni interior. I remember the interior having the "caramel" Schedoni distinct color but can't recall the exterior color. What color was it? I have some FCA National Concours Plaques/Trophies from 1990 & 1991 as well as F1 parts that are mounted on branded Schedoni leather.
The one I referenced above was nero metallico. Of the 45 328s that left the factory in that color, only 1 had the Schedoni interior - per the owner, who checked through the factory.
luca's son matteo is the ceo of the company. he is really the driving force behind it's growth. having grown up in the business world, this was his venture into, backed by his father. they actually own several other high end/luxary brands as well.
So a 'Schedoni interior' was an option in the caramel leather? Any other cars come with this option? Any photos or source documents on that? This is very interesting.
Sounds like if I wanted to 'invest' in a 308 I would want the Schodoni interior option. Anybody know if any of them are for sale and how much?
