Ive been thinking about buying my own scan tool for a couple of years now. My goal is to be able to do basic operations on my F430 such as bleeding my F1 system, abs bleed, check codes and more as I learn. Ive done searches on fchat and many use the Launch X431. Its overwhelming as far as the difft versions. Any comments on what other brand and model to consider in thevsib $5K level be great to hear. Ofcoyrse Id rather save money if possible but also have flexibility to wirk on future cars(Aventador in near future). Here is a link to an Amazon ad which sounds too good to be true.

    Thank you all in advance.

I have the Launch X431, I think it’s the previous version. I also bought mine on Amazon in case it was junk I could return it. It does all the things you want it to. Mine was $750ish.

Why do you think it’s too good to be true?

Thanks for quick response. I thought Too good because of price...Leonardo and SD3 are in 20K and Autel seems to be 4K or so. Another brand that I was considering but seems to have so many bits n pieces that I doubt Ill ever use. Just to confirm though: the one I posted is just a newer version of yours? Ill do the buy it now then!

I just bought one to use as a mobile scanner..it works. Honestly it does a great job. Launch has been around for years and has a great reputation.

Yes, it’s the updated version of mine. You won’t be disappointed. It has numerous dongles to fit many other cars. I think they call them dongles. The part that plugs into the port in the car.

Check YouTube for Normal Guy Supercar. He’s using his Launch to flush his F1 fluid. I followed along with his video and did mine.

I haven’t used it for the antilock brakes valves yet, but the program is in the Launch. Play with it, NOT connected to your car, for a couple hours and you will see all the functions it has. I’ve updated mine 3-4 times over the past year or so. I think I’m getting close to the two year mark that I’ll have to pay for updates or use it like it is.

PM either me or flash32, were both fairly familiar with the Launch if you need help.

I have the Launch X431 Mini Pro. It works for what I need to do but it is not perfect. It could not reset a 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo service interval reminder, for example. It cannot reset the brake life indicator on a 458 Chassis, for another example.

It is also a China manufactured and sold scanner (under license from Launch USA), not sold or supported by the Launch USA company. That means you get absolutely zero technical support from China. Zero. It you are able to figure out things on your own, then you are good.

I just bought the Launch Diagun V too but it just came the other day and I haven't even set it up yet. Came with a whole case full of "stuff" different connectors and such but it's supposed to be able to do all the F1 functions as well as a lot of other stuff. I will be using mine on my Maserati not a Ferrari but similar F1 transmission.

And yeah with tax and all in it was a little over $800. Just make sure whichever model you get it's one of the bi-directional ones not just the cheaper code scanners.

Sorry to revive a year old thread but I just got a 07 f430 and am looking for a appropriate scan tool for checking clutch life, tuning the F1 pressures ect... is the LAUNCH X431 V+ PRO 4.0 for about 1050usd the best tool for the job today? Thanks

The no support with an Amazon bought scanner goes for most brands. Launch, autel, xtool etc offer zero support for the China bought tools. With a little bit of googling it easy to find a us based scanner with a price that beats Amazon.
