I urge you to find you state senator and give them a call or email them to oppose this bill.
Yes there was a tragedy, but the lack of a front plate did not cause it, and the drivers was identified and caught quickly without it. Thus there is not point in requiring all of us law abiding citizen to buy front plates, front mounts and drill holes in our cars thus lowering the value of them.
If anything, they need to go after squatted trucks. That Idiocracy is legitimately dangerous and there are plenty of stories of people being run over by them and every single one of us has been blinded by their headlights which are pointed right at all oncoming traffic.

Hi, while I agree I don't want to do this, there are all these other states that do, what do Ferrari owners do in those states(any non drilling kits?) and how does it affect their value? Anyone?

I lived i Texas for awhile, and received a few tickets and a lot of warnings. Not sure what the penalty would be in Florida.

There are tow hook mounts, and a few under bumper mounts I've seen.
I will not be drilling any of my cars. I also will not buy a car with the front bumper drilled... even if its the wife's minivan lol
but after this bill its going suck to try to find undrilled cars

It's a small update, the originator of the bill is the Florida State senator from Sarasota district Joe gruters.
I called their office and spoke to one of the representatives and they assured me that the license plate portion of the bill is being dropped.
So as long as that's true, I guess we're good.

    It's been dropped!

Thank you for reaching out to Senator Gruters’ office regarding the proposal to require front license plates on vehicles in Florida. This provision was added as an amendment to Senate Bill (SB) 92, also known as the "Lilly Glaubach Act." Senator Gruters introduced this bill in honor of 13-year-old Lilly Glaubach, who tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run accident while biking home from school in Sarasota in August 2022.

SB 92 is a top priority for Senator Gruters. Hit-and-run accidents remain a serious issue in Florida, accounting for one out of every four crashes in 2023. This means that of the 1,000 crashes occurring daily in the state, approximately 250 involve drivers who flee the scene.

The primary goal of SB 92 is to reduce hit-and-run incidents by increasing accountability for motor vehicle repair shops and preventing individuals from obtaining vehicle repairs under false pretenses. During discussions on the bill, a colleague suggested adding a front license plate as a an additional tool to assist law enforcement in identifying the more than 105,000 vehicles involved in hit-and-run accidents each year in Florida.

Lilly’s case is a tragic example of why stronger measures are needed. If not for a good Samaritan who recognized the damaged vehicle over an hour away after hearing about the accident, the driver responsible for her death may never have been caught.

After discussions with fellow legislators and hearing from constituents and others across Florida, Senator Gruters has decided to remove the front license plate requirement from the bill.

We appreciate your engagement on this important issue and value your input. If you would like to learn more about the Lilly Glaubach Act, please visit: Senate Bill 92 (2025) - The Florida Senate

I contacted Sen. Truenow's office on both the primary topic and the addendum. I don't believe any of it was well thought out - and stated my reasons why.

If they focused on getting the unlicensed and/or uninsured drivers off of Florida's roadways (and keeping them off), it would be much more beneficial IMHO...
