Question for those in the know. I have two large garages linked buy a single doorway. a tradesman working at my house asked me if he could use one of my garages to save his timber/plasterboard getting wet in todays rain, so i moved my track car out of the one garage and left the fezza in its normal spot in the other garage, it did'nt have its normal car cover on tho'.

Upon my return tonight I discovered the dozy b@stard had gone through to the other garage to presumably have a gander at the Fezza, only to leave said door open and consequently covering my car with a thick layer of very fine sawdust. Tw@t.

I have used a pressure washer to blast the bulk of it off but a residue remains and I am scared to wash the car with a sponge for fear of "swirling" my unmarked paint. Any ideas what to do guys???? :(

Get in touch with Dave at DBValeting.

I'd also be inclined to get him to sort it and knock the bill off your builder's invoice.

Use plenty of water- hose it off whilst you are gently sponging it down (working from top down), keep rinsing the sponge frequently, then wash with your usual car shampoo.

    It'll be fine.

    Robert.

Put a hefty slug of shampoo in your bucket, and squirt the water in with a view to making an utter shedload of bubbles. Wet the car, then, using your hand, wash the car by dragging handfuls of bubbles over the paint. Try not to touch the paintwork with your hands. After the car has had a good going over, runse with a hose, and repeat the process. This is the lowest impact way of removing particulate matter from your paint.

If it does not get it off, then consult Dave, because you may have problems if the sawdust is from MDF. MDF being dust and glue makes wet MDF dust more sticky than a very sticky thing, in a sticky place, at a sticky time, with the work "sticky" written in glue, on the back of some gaffa tape! :)

How about gently blowing it off with an airline,or will this cause more damage.

Cover the areas where there is still dust with baby wipes and leave them on for half an hour.

They work a treat on dried on flies so should be ok with sawdust.

Has he tried licking it off and brushing his tongue regularly with a high quality toothpaste. That's what I'd do but I'm just weird

GrahamS has the right idea, I like the idea of licking the car clean, no I'm serious, your spit is one of the most powerful cleaning agents you can get, providing you haven't just shared a porky grease plate with stevef and not rinsed your mouth out, spit is also non corrosive, about time somebody produced a product with similar cleaning qualities, they could call it 'Spit and Polish'.

Seriously though, I have a garage with the same tpe of problem, the wood ceiling seems to emit dust that is greasy, non stop, like resin, and if I forget to cover the car it goes all blotchy, Dave Zymol got it all off, that would be my tip to you, zymol it, he will clay bar it if its too extreme. Better to be safe than sorry. before the zymol my car looked absolutely aweful one day, too many Halfords type cleaning agents do more damage than good sometimes IMHO. You have my best wishes on this one Hazy
