So my wife drives a 2002 Carrera 4s.. not bad for a chick car Just after she got it, gets check engine light, goes to Rusnak and $150.00 later they showed her how to tighten the gas cap. A few weeks ago she gets another check engine light, this time a sensor, but while the car was there they checked everything out and said "you need a new clutch... can't you feel that?" Damien (Fusion) had recently done the clutch and so she said "no thanks" Since then it has been by looked at by Tiger (Strictly German) and no problem with the clutch. Be wary of Rusnak service in Pasadena...
I personally have had similar problems with their Volvo dealer but not the Porsche dealer. However, a friend of mine purchased a brand new Panamera Turbo from them only to discover that they had repainted most of the body panels on the front of the car before he purchased it.
There are problems with their Jaguar service dept too. They cut corners, even refusing to put parts back on the car they removed, instead tossing them in the foot wells behind the seats instead. Not my XJR, but a friend's had the head gasket supposedly "replaced" but they didn't. A former service manager there works for my indie and he said the employees there are not motivated or take pride in their work. Here's the best incident yet. Their sign fell from high winds and damaged over half the body panels on the same car and they tried to claim that the damage was pre-existing! Rustnak = F'ing CROOKED.
Wayne, I am glad you are happy with Tiger. My Alfa has never run better since his work on its engine. For Ferrari its Damien and for the rest its Tiger. Great folks at Strictly German on Colorado in Pasadena. Adil.
Not bad for a Porsche operation. My girlfriend used to get charged $45 labor per light bulb change at a local GM dealer. Out-of-warranty work + dealer + female driver is asking for it IMHO..
We purchased a Jag in 1996 and had it serviced by them for years. It was horeble experience to have Rusnak. I took it in for an oil Change and asked to that top off all fluids as I was heading to my Palm Spring home. I get in the car, got on the 210 and before the next exit, the car overheated, blew a hose. (Car never had a problem before the oil change). They promised me the car will be ready in 3 weeks, 3 weeks later and guess what, they had not touched it. Wife's 996 goes in for oil change and engine light, they promised a Saturday service. After waiting for 6 hours, I walked in the back and found the car just sitting there. There were other issues as well which I called management over and over and never got a call back. I wrote to the owner direct to his home explaining how bad service is and wanted to hear from him. The letter was sent registered and FEDEX and never heard from him. Needless to say, they are on my **** list forever. Auto Gallery will be my place service for both the Porsche and my TR. They just completed engine out on my TR and it was a great experience. They offered me a free rental while my car was in the shop (Porsche) and discounted rate on the service making it difficult for me to go anywhere else. Give Travis or John a call, they will take care of you. I have three 20% discount card for service and parts for anyone who is going to use Auto Gallery. PM me.
Just to give everyone an opposing view, I've used Rusnak in Westlake for service on my Porsches and BMW's for 25 years, and have never had a complaint. As a matter of fact, for a short while I bought my BMW's at Bob Smith, but still services my cars at Rusnak. Recently I've switched all my BMW purchases back to Rusnak, and couldn't be happier with the service and prices I recieve. Sorry to hear others have had a bad experience. Paul Rusnak and his daughter Victoria are very serious about running the best dealership in the LA, and that's always been my experience. I also second the fact the Auto Gallery runs a great shop. They just did some service on my 430, and everything went perfectly.
I've had the exact same experience at Rusnak BMW & Auto Gallery as well. I've never had better service anywhere than I've had at these two establishments.
Yes, I know. But they (or whoever they send their new cars to for paint work) did a horrible job. They left paint burns all over the front of the car. They are great at selling cars but they can't get their act together when it comes to fixing them, in Pasadena at least.
If this is true, lets hope they pay more attention to the quality of the people they hire that tarnish their image. I'm in the customer service field. There is a big difference between a customer that is never satisfied vs the flat out crooked behavior some have experienced first hand. I'd be happy to talk to a former manager from the Jag dept who quit over this kind of treatment of the customers. If you want to judge an establishment, look at it's turnover I say...
I bought my P.O.S. 09 Carrera S Cab (new) at Rusnak Westlake and had nothing but problems during the 4 months that I had it. From the salesman to the G.M. to the service manager, the attitude was extremely cavalier. The car used 1 quart of oil every 500 miles and, because Porsche says that is acceptable, they just brushed my complaint off. When my entire audio system went out, the car sat for two days in service before I was informed that they are not allowed to repair a radio until they have permission from Porsche North America...AND IT WAS WARRANTY! (it was never fixed). Finally I called Liz Rusnak in Pasadenas but never recieved a return call. Thank goodness that car is history.
Wow you bought a Porsche? I thought you hated P cars and loved Corvettes. But Im not surprised with Rusnak Westlake; I didnt have a good experience with them either. BTW all the Porsches Ive owned burned a little oil, thats norm in Porsche world.
I do not have experience with Rusnak, but have to say that sending your wife to service a car is a major mistake, with very few exceptions. Mechanics, dealers, and anyone else automotive look at women and see a "kick me" sign on their backs. I almost never let my wife take a car anywhere for service for this reason. Unfortunately, last time I did, the BMW dealer broke the mirror off of the driver's side and told her they didn't do it. It's just amazing what they think they can get away with when dealing with a woman. Not only did they have to pay for the mirror after I got involved, but they lost me as a customer for life.
I must have been on drugs. But now I am fully recovered, driving a new 2010 Red Corvette Grand Sport convertible.
I think what Ron is saying, they will treat you anyway they want. They will make you feel at home and they are the best and they will get back with you. Reality is they don't how P.O. and if you car in sitting there months with no answer. They will not call back and in fact, it does not matter to them if you complain. I wrote a letter to Mr. Rusnak and mailed in a large envelope to his home at Bradbury Estate and also faxed the same letter to the GM in Pasadena. No calls. I started using the dealer in Newport Beach, over all, I am happy, just have to watch up selling.

just avoid both dealerships and you will have far less problems. If it is a new car go see Auto Gallery, if it's an old car there are plenty of independents around including Damien at Fusion who still sneaks one in here and there between Ferraris.
I had the gas cap thing with a Honda a few years back, first time they claimed gas cap, when it returned amonth later they said it was a sensor
Wasn't there a Ginormous lawsuit over this a few years ago? A guy bought a new 7 series only to find out that it was repainted after damage in shipping. That is why you see all the money spent on plastic covering entire cars and wheels etc... on new cars shipped. If there is a respray or damage, they should disclose that info. Here is a link to the story on the sue-age. http://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/94-896.ZO.html
+1 & +2 Adil, Thanks for the tip, Tiger is great, (not to mention blocks from my office) and I hear Damien is getting (or perhaps has) a new shop better than the last. Can't wait to see it.
