Hey all, I feel a little dumb here as I am not sure if anything is wrong, or if it has been wrong for a year and I am just noticing! I own a US spec 2005 f430. I just noticed the light strip in the headlights does not light up under any circumstances. Headlights on = light strip off. Parking lights on = light strip off. Headlights on in the first position = running lights off. The other parking lights (side marker and tail) come on. What gives. When are they supposed to come on. What are the odds that its just bulbs on both sides. Like I said, I never noticed if they ever worked and I have owned the car for almost a year! Strange. Your side markers (orange) are working. According to the wiring diagrams, these are spliced into the wiring for the main lamp assemblies. This means your relays and fuses are ok.

I'm not familiar with the internals of the main light assemblies, but maybe you do have a dual lamp (or internal power supply failure) failure. Ouch.

If you can find a yellow/black wire (on the left side) or yellow wire (on the right side), going to a plug on the back of the light assembly, check these for 12 volts.

Thanks. I haven’t done any troubleshooting yet, I was just curious what the appropriate behavior is. Should they be on when the headlights are on, and when the parking lights are on?

Externally, there doesn't seem to be any logic which stops the LED strip working when your headlights are on. If there is any logic, it will be in the lamp assembly itself. Anyway, your lights don't seem to be working whatever the configuration. The Park lights and stalk switch controlled lights have separate fuses and relays, but ultimately, the wiring is spliced together before entering the lamp assembly.

According to the manual which can be downloaded here

    https://data2.manualslib.com/pdf2/47/4672/467129-ferrari/f430_owners_manual.pdf?2ab9fc8d17100227c0c78fdf34846a48&take=binary

'Position' lights go on at the first stalk click

The fairy lights come on when you do that, or when you hot the P button on the center console

They stay on when low beams go on, not sure about high beams

If I were to take a guess, I would guess somehow you have no bulbs, not sure how they would have both failed or it would be electrical

Maybe someone worked on them and didn't put them back. These are small, fragile bulbs, could be a fluke and they are out.

The fairy lights are the small 'valeo' rubber cover in the outside corner of each side which you just pull off

You should be able to access through the fender well hatch without removing the lamp from the car or even the fender well cover, though it would be easier if you do remove the fender well cover.

    I'd start with that

I had the same problem and it was the bulbs. Can be done with the tire on but it's not easy.

Thank you. I'll start with the simple stuff like checking the bulbs. I mean, it's possible they are 20 years old.

    Hopefully that's all it is

Are you saying they are individual, replaceable lamps and not LEDs soldered onto a flexible circuit board?

Unless I am misremembering they are just small bulbs that illuminate the plastic tunnel

Which is why they are not that bright

I will have a picture in a couple of hours

I am talking about the OEM ones not the scuding

I meant when I pulled out the OEM ones that were looking pretty nasty

the Scuding ones are absolutely spectacular LED frames

    1) They are just regular H6W bulbs.
    2) I am a moron and didn't realize for a year that my bulbs are burnt out. Simple fix. Thanks for all the help.

Trust me I checked every fuse in the car before I decided to check the bulbs.
