Okay, so I’m completely aware of the consensus here, but still haha: In a few months my second daughter will be born. I’m contemplating a 612 instead of or next to the F430. Sometimes we do a longer weekend trip with the family and I’m thinking if it would be possible to do that with the 612 instead of the Tesla or X5M. I’d love the 612 to be as versatile as possble, but has anyone ever fitted a roof rack for a ski/roof box to take some extra cr*p on the way? Roast expected. Help appreciated!
Not sure the aluminum roof is tough enough for that, but it does provide roll-over protection, so who knows?
Enzo, congratulations on the pending birth of your daughter! You might want to ask Bill Coates, aka "LondonParis" here on FChat. I would suggest that Bill may know more about using the 612 to travel with family than anybody else. I don't recall ever seeing a roof rack for a 612. UPDATE: I stand corrected. There are definitely roof racks for V-12 Ferrari's...here is an example: https://www.vacuumrack.com/us/vacuum-suctioncup-ski-rack-bike-rack-roof-rack-roof-carrier-crossbar-for-tesla-bmw-porsche-ferrari-jaguar-audi-mercedes-electric-car And this https://asphaltkind.de/en/roofbox-for-the-ferrari-purosangue-shaped-by-performance-through-in-house-development/
The floor pops out of 612 trunk adding space, more space between rear passengers, space in front passenger footwell too for small bag. Enjoy what ever you do with the new addition to the family. P.s. Ensure the rack solution is rated to 199mph.
Thanks guys! Looking forward to our newest family member. Not looking forward to the sleepless nights though haha. I’ve stumbled across a brand called ‘Seasucker’ and they offer high end vacuum suction cups with roof bars, for mounting a roof box! Also, they get good reviews! Will keep you guys posted.
The Seasucker did an amazing job keeping Peter Sagan's bike from flying off the Testarossa !! Only caution I have is they will grip and combined with wind resistance you can possibly deform the aluminum roof or damage the paint over time, although I have never personally see that happen, just a word of caution. That said, give the trunk a shot before mounting a roof box, as stated before, the trunk is very deep!! As for performance the 612 is a solid SOLID family friendly GT!!! Gear shifts will elicit giggles from children and adults alike!! Enjoy!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Enzo, We routinely travel with a 2 yr old and a teenager (180cm tall) in the back when travelling from Paris to the south of France. The trunk off the 612 has 3 levels with two subfloors. Levels -1 and -2 were configured for the spare tire option that every few selected so you have options to create a large and useable space. I run with the main trunk and level -1 combined. A yo-yo stroller or a cybex libelle (pictured) is a compact solution that combined with the matching car seat makes moving the newborn easy. Our son is 2.5 now and has travelled more than 60,000 kms in the 612. Image Unavailable, Please Login For luggage we use the expandable Longchamp soft bags. They are huge when expanded and one per occupant will easily hold a week's worth of clothes and accessories. You can fit 4 bags plus 2 strollers plus a suit bag across the top - for the formal wear ), and some shoes without too much effort. If you get creative you can put even more. A couple years ago YouTuber Steve Hamilton put a roof box on his Chiron for a road trip to Car Week. The installation is at about 3:30 in this video:
I did two weeks through Europe with mine with my wife and two kids. They can hold a lot. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The 6 piece Schedoni set fits in the trunk. (Although if you have more than a sports jacket in the garment bag, it will have to go on the back seat.) Image Unavailable, Please Login
