I will choose neither (Still love my 16 California T, 911.2 Targa 4 GTS and 911.2 GT3) but when does this ever stop us from commenting? Roma Striking design Ferrari special factor Engine sound (likely need an aftermarket mod) Interior appointments (assuming you option it up) Ferrari special factor (yes, a repeat) Haven't seen one in person but photos are a bit close to Aston Martin's design language (IMHO) New 992 Turbo S Raw speed Less "look at me" - more blend with the crowd Bulletproof in terms of design and overall reliability Porsche is finally upgrading the interiors (but still not an F car level of uniqueness / quality) Engine sound is okay but REALLY needs numerous mods - my GT3 has a GMG center exhaust -- sounds like an angry chain saw when hammering. The Targa 4 GTS has the lovely Soul Sport Cats. A lot of guys go Dundon headers and other mods -- it can get really LOUD but maybe not as attractive a sound as the Ferrari. Raw speed (yes, a repeat) To me, these are "the factors". Personally, I think the following are good values right now (thanks, Mr. Depreciation): 16-18 California T (esp with HS package) -- I added the Novitec tune and am now getting 625+ HP in Sport mode. Love it. 18-19 911.2's -- Amazing cars. So easy to mod. the 3.0 litre motors are safely getting Turbo S power with Tial intakes / AMS intercoolers and GTS turbos (esp on E85 gas). For about $5-6k if you own a GTS and $10-11k if you own a base 911.2 you can get 625 HP at the wheels on e85 with APR tunes. Pretty amazing bang for the buck. 18-19 GT3's -- if you want the full / raw adrenaline experience, you can get it for about $150k. You can even get a 6 speed. Not much to tune in the GT3 due to the NA engine but DAMN is it awesome with a GMG/Soul/SharkWorks center delete exhaust. OUTRAGEOUS fun for the price.
Thank u do much for your detailed reply and for all the data and info.... Very useful and totally agree w you... Enjoy your cars always in good health Sent from my VOG-L29 using Tapatalk
if you are living in the country side and that's where you drive the car mostly I would go for a Taycan Turbo S (yes not 911, there s a comparison between the two where the reviewer prefers the taycan as a fun factor) if you live in a big city the Roma or actually get both, they are very complimentary
Have you any first hand experience with the Taycan? I really don't get the hype. You can feel ALL of the 2400 kg in that tank, as it bumbles along. I have never been sick in a car, not once. The Taycan Turbo S changed that. Back to the question at hand. I'd choose the Porto. Don't care one bit about the Roma and have a hard time even consider it a Ferrari, and the Porsche is just a 911 - boring. The Porto is a proper exotic GT and very nice. I enjoyed my 991 tts but I did have to mod it a bit to suit my taste. I have seen the reviews on the 992 turbo s and it sounds terrible with the GPF. Unfortunately, even though I have seen the Roma in person and sat in it, etc, I didn't get to hear it start up or drive it. I wouldn't choose one over the other without a drive. I think the Roma looks much better but Porsche probably has some good touches in the 992 redesign so I wouldn't be able to choose at this point. Need a drive. They are both good choices at that price point IMO.
Agreed.... I used to own 911 turbo but it was boring.. Still I miss its usability... But my 488 is more comfy since I hv problems in my back... That's why I am reluctant to go back to 911 again (it was boring and did not like the suspension) Sent from my VOG-L29 using Tapatalk
yes i've driven one and it's way beyond anything else (and i've driven pretty much all super cars currently on the market)....it's the next generation of automotive platforms....you can only feel the weight if you break, but other than that steering, acceleration, suspension is first class...I guess you got sick because the car was too fast for you )) ....each their own, but to me the Roma has clear design heritage to some of the most iconic F cars made in the 60s, not sure how you can claim it cannot be a Ferrari....on the other hand the Porto to me personally looks like a wanna be 812, ie a small ugly brother....the only real concern I have with the Roma is that it's on the Porto platform, as the Porto drives like box on wheels
why not an F8 then...if you like the 488 you ll love the F8....the drive characteristics are massively improved...I did not like the 488 but the F8 is amazing to drive...also prefer the design but that's subjective
I love my 488 and I cannot find a real reason or justification to trade it in w an F8.... An do also got my 812 which is the most amazing car I have... It's just a blast Sent from my VOG-L29 using Tapatalk
have you driven the F8?....i found the 488 had quite a turbo lag...the F8 has basically none...which to me really transformed the car and made it much more dynamic and drivable as you don't need to be high up in the rev range i've driven the 812 quite a bit and also b2b to the F8 and on track b2b to the 488...i would say the F8 makes you feel a much better driver than you are, the 812 still feels big despite rear wheel steer and not very nimble/ precise.....also the set up is a bit too soft for my taste ..if you've not driven an F8 i would highly recommend taking it out..I would have never thought i would be saying that a V8TT matches or even in parts exceeds the V12 driving experience
Thank u... Will give it a try and test drive the F8.. Appreciated Sent from my VOG-L29 using Tapatalk
I never experienced turbo lag in my 488 or Cali T HS whereas I did in every other turbo car I have owned, that includes AMG, BMW M and Porsche Turbo Cayenne and 911. I think Ferrari did a great job with the linear acceleration profile. I think you must not have driven the 812 for very long but it takes some getting used to the length. You have to push it some in order to start getting comfortable with it but once you do, it feels much shorter and what you find is that it will corner just about as well as the 488.
What??? The lag of the 488 and F8 you speak of, I cannot wrap my head around. Have tested the 488 and Pista back to back for a few hours on track back in May not to mention just having fun with both cars on the road going back and forth. I found the to have the same lag, which was virtually none. Have you done back to back testing, or is the 488 lag you mention something you recall? Because that has me completely stumped and I cannot recognize a significant lag in any of them. Main difference is the response, where you can tell that the rotating assembly is lighter in the Pista. But none of them have much in terms of boost threshold lag, and actual lag on boost is zero. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Totally agree... I never felt also any turbo lag w my 488...its just an amazing car and yes after u drive your 812 for a while u find out that it's just amazing from all aspects Sent from my VOG-L29 using Tapatalk
Of these two, the Roma, purely on looks and design. A much more unique car than the 911 but this cuts both ways, will also get a lot more attention than a 911.
I used to own a 911 turbo and it was very boring and the ride was not comfy compared to my F cars... And I am afraid the 992 TTS will be the same!! Sent from my VOG-L29 using Tapatalk
The 4S was also just not fast. I floored it multiple times. My 2016 i8 felt a noticeable amount more nippy in a straight line.
