    Hi,
I was away for about 15 days and forgot to put my Roma on charging.
Now the car doesn’t open with the remote key and I can’t find the physical key to open the car mechanically. When I connect the charger it blinks red and doesn’t start the charging.

The Ferrari dealer in Dubai has been of no assistance whatsoever.

Could anyone please give me any idea on how to access the car battery to charge/replace it?

Another problem is that the car parked in underground parking and it’s impossible to tow it. The only option I was given by local mechanic store is to break the glass, however waiting time for a replacement is about 30 days so that will be the last option to go.

Not to be fatalistic, but one way or another you are screwed. This may seem like a little mistake, but it is not. I have ranted on this forum about the tenuous nature of the Roma's electrical system. Get the car to Ferrari and pray the damage is repairable. Warranty will not cover parts of this. THE golden rule is every time, yes every time , put the car on the tender.

  4. Did you try "waking" up the battery using the OEM tender?

I was kind of thinking that if you had an old style tender, or one that ran at a slightly higher amperage, you could at least get enough juice to pop the door open. That would be accomplished through the external magnet clip.

Open door. Open hood. Change out battery.
Limp to dealer to clear all the low voltage codes that activated while the battery was on the way down.

One thing I learned about the "smart" battery tenders is that they require the battery to have some level of voltage to start charging. I had a friend whose car had a dead alternator and his battery read 0. I tried my CTEK and it would not do anything. I connected the battery directly to a dumb charger until it read 50%, then put it on the CTEK and was able to get it running. Just a thought.

Has anyone ever figured out why Ferrari electrical systems are so ridiculously poorly engineered that they can't be without a trickle charger for 2 weeks without dying?
I mean, that's just pathetic. You can leave a Toyota or a 911 for a year and it will run happily by just showing up and turning the key, and the battery isn't even that small on a Ferrari.

Has anyone ever done any testing where the battery juice goes when the car sits? Obviously there must be a massive parasitic drag to drain a battery in such a short amount of time.

Its probably either the anti-theft systems or the navigation. Some cars also have OTA software updates, or perhaps relaying usage information back to ferrari for statistical purposes.

I say this because we had a Volvo with similar battery issues, and the Volvo dealer told us it had to do with the navigation system maintaining GPS lock even when it was powered off. Multiple software updates never fixed that car.

This is definitely the way to go. Alternative could be to try applying 12v from a jump battery directly to the charge port for a couple of minutes to see if if supplies enough jiuce to use the remote to unlock the door from the fob. Make sure you get the right polarity and you don't short anything, it won't do any harm as long as the polarity is right. Once unlocked, you then have access to either change the battery or charge it in-situ with a proper charger (not tender) after disconnecting it from the car. I would not break or smash anything unless it were an absolute last resort.

Make sure the charging contacts on the car are clean.

    A quick update:
My local mechanic managed to open the hood. He replaced the battery, all screens light up, alarm goes off, however both remote keys do nothing when you press open/close buttons. The car just doesn’t react in any way.

After this I contacted Ferrari and ordered a manual key. Got it delivered today. Unfortunately the manual key doesn’t do anything either. When I turn it counterclockwise the alarm goes off, but the door doesn’t open. Same for trunk - I can here something moving inside, but it doesn’t open.

Why don't you just ask the dealer to sort everything out and fix it.

Well, two reasons: the dealer is either unhelpful or very slow related to any questions even the easiest one. The second one I just want to understand myself how it comes having everything done (changed battery, having manual key etc) the car still doesn’t open.

I will contact the dealer again today. Let’s see what they say. Will update the thread after
