Those were the exact words of my mechanic when I dropped of my newly acquired 1984 Silver Spur at the shop for a thorough mechanical inspection before I put it up for resale.

"Well, I said.....if you buy them under the correct circumstances......they can be great buys".....that was my first reply to Peter who used to work on them for the dealer back when.....

But......I taken it out for a long drive with my friend that I bought it from (ex-RR club president) and I never had so much fun in my life for such little money at the speed limit !!! That was my second reply.

These cars literally carry you with such undescribable aplomb across life's motorways (see I've gone British now.......my toothbrush was the first thing that went out the window) that no other cars feels the same.....if you're not rich (and I am not) they will make you feel like a zillionaire.......................and the reaction of people.......................

Gawd....the last time I saw something like that from the great unwashed motoring masses was when the Countach first appeared on the road........(Beverly Hills excepted of course)

Driving a RR is an event......much like a driving a recognizeable Ferrari......but in an oh so much different way.......I kinda hope this car sits in stock for a couple of months.......in my parkade that is........

Anyone else here fall prey to the winged lady ?

I just read an article about a guys RR experience in Cigar magazine. It was a '79 that was always having electrical problems; I hope that it is an exception because I really like the older cars.

I love the corniche and the older sedans and the body style just before the new one. I hope to have one someday. I almost want one before a F car because I would have more use for it.

My friend has had Roller's for 30 years...........truthfully they are pretty solid cars if you get a later model one in the production cycle.......and drive them regularily on occasion. They are, apparently, much worse off when used as garage queens than Ferrari's are......

I love my Silver Seraph, it cruises along just great and people really get a kick out of it. I love the woodwork and all the hand made components. All that is missing is the tiarra for my mom and the little black cap for me.

Nellie in her nighty hasn't caught my eye, but I am going to get a winged "b".

I know people have said that I would be better off getting a TR instead of a Turbo R, but I think that the TR is a little vulgar.

Oh hell, I am getting old.

Not exactly an RR but I just got an 04 Lincoln Navigator.

Ive never owned a full luxury car before, My bag has always been mid engine sports cars.

The Gator is incredibly beautiful. I know its just a dressed up FORD SUV but I have to congratulate Lincoln bcus they did a fantastic job on the Gator.

Mine is a metallic burgundy, inside it has gorgeous wood trim & all the bells & whistles. Awesome stuff

I'm not ready for an RR yet, Now an Aston Martin DB9 or a Maserati Quattroporte would be Way cool

    Judge4re.......

Actually my friend sold it as he wants to buy an older early 90's Turbo R........I like those even more........especially in Tudor Red with Cream leather and a red dash....yummmm.......but they do command a premium compared to R's of the same vintage........

    WILLIAM H........

I'm not RR material either......maybe that's why I am getting the looks when I drive it (I am 44 but 22 year old gatas mistake me for someone who's 30).....so for <$30K USD why not......?

At least with your Navigator you'll know how they feel........as they both drive like oversprung bathtubs.....heh.

Dozens through work...my boss thought he should have a few at all times.
Including of course a factory Jankel Limo that they produced at the rate of two per year.
My most embarassing moment was on a BC ferry sitting in a brand new light oyster Corniche III with the gazillion dollar pet cat and little white dog...I slid down in the seat as people gagged at the sight of a young 20's punk in that set-up. "daddy's car!" was a common phrase yelled from the street. I would respond with a classy "f-you". Then of course there was that time when the boarding punks smashed the flying lady with their skateboards...imagine their surprise when the driver was a "young punk" too and had a tee-ball bat behind the seat of every car...standing ovation from the downtown lunch crowd as the punks retreated crapping pants all the way.
Now, the black conti R was quite the mover through the mountain highways and that was more my style...fastest pick-up truck on the road.
I LOVE the cars from Crewe, or at least when they were from there in the true sense...I installed a mini jar of Grey Poupon on the dash of the limo to the great delight of passers by...they would always ask for it and drop dead when I pointed to it. Good fun. I also love the HP ratings...Adequate and the Turbo R was More than adequate...

I love the cars. My daily driver is an '88 Corniche II. I think they are the true complement to the Ferraris. Like I've said before I don't like it when they try to make sedans into sports cars, I don't believe in hybrids.

It's comfortable, it's luxurious, you don't see one every other street, something hard to avoid here in the bay area, it's a rag top, it has a big 7 liter motor, and it's just basically a cool car.

Prior to the Corniche my daily driver was a '79 Bentley T2. I still have it but I suffered one too many "Failed to proceeds" in a couple of months and replaced it with my current ride. The T2 had 135,000 miles when I retired it from daily use.

I have had no major maintenance issues with any of my RR's. You do need to stay on top of things and address issues when necessary, you can't let stuff go. I think that's where a lot of people get into trouble.

It's a company I founded about 9 years ago, WSEX.com, stands for World Sports Exchange. It gets a lot of comments, I can't it help if so many people have dirty minds. :)

I fell victim to an Arnage red label a couple years ago and I absolutuely love it. I am thinking about moving up to the "T". Unlike many other expensive sedans, it doesn't matter what year they are because they are still cool years later. A 91 Turbo "R" is still an awesome car today, what other 91 sedan can you say that about? That said, although I love the new Phantom and the new Bentley's I would never buy it brand new and take that first hit. I don't mind some depreciation but not to the tune of 80k (in my case) for 6k miles.

The Turbo R is indeed a fantastic car and a great buy to this day. Still beautiful after all these years. There is a LWB BRG on forest green leather with red piping and a red pin stripe cruising around here that I still lust after.
The presentation of those cars on the street in 1991 was breathtaking...as it blew your doors off.

The Corniche is the sophisticated king though...door flasks and shot glasses...now that is what I call an 'open container' violation of the highest order.

I think they are about the same as the top of the line 4 door of the same era. Spicy won't let me buy one until we move back (and I don't want one sitting for a year), but most of the 1989's I've seen are between $25k and $35k.

Still haven't decided on black, BRG or red, yet.

Those are all gorgeous cars. The red corniche is what comes to mind when I hear the word Rolls Royce. It was the late 80's when I first saw one in person it was a white corniche. THere is a guy around here with a late 80's blue corniche, I still get excited each time I see it.

Costs way too much to import one here. Was quoted close to $400k for an Arnage. I've got better things to throw my money at.

We just sold a new RR Phantom a few months ago. Came to AUD $1.2M

Have a few other late model RR's and Bentley's in stock, including a convertable from the 90's for AUD $650k, one of 5 in Australia.

    ;)
