This is pretty cool and exciting to see major projects like this. Appears they built (or are building) three Boat Tails all completely customized to the owners desires. Some carryover from the Phantom (such as the engine), otherwise the body and a lot of other parts (nearly 2000) are unique to the car. The first example came out really well IMHO, really enjoy the idea of the picnic in the back.

Wouldn't be surprised if one of these is going to the same dude who owns the Sweptail. $28m for one is nuts; I really don't see one of these holding that kind of value if one ever shows up 2nd hand. At that money, I would figure collectors & curators to be after vintage automobiles.

From the interior photos, it appears the car is still built on the old gen. VII Phantom Coupe/Drophead platform, don't think the R&D cost for converting a current gen. phantom into the Boat Tail would cost anywhere near $28m.

28 mil i could get a used but relatively new 40 meter yacht with changes for gas and crew. i thought bugatti or certain custom ferrari options are over-priced lol.

Id love to know how they justify the $28m price. A RR DHC at $500k probably has a hefty margin to begin with. How does that one cost 56x other than that they found someone willing to pay that much..

The price is really "Shocking" to me.... So, yes! the car is really superb but it's really a huge amount of money! Also, if I understand correctly it's not a "Real" One-Off but more of an Ultra limited series of 3 units.

Fwiw the real cost is less than half the $28mm being floated around.

It's not a one off? And each of the 3 will cost $28m?

Yes, I just checked it is limited to 3 units worldwide (All sold).... For the "Real" price it remains secret.

does it have a dish washer or sink somewhere in the car? because it looks like there is a crockery compartment in the back with fork, spoon and dishes. or the owners just shove the dirty dishes back into the intricately made holder when they are done eating during the picnic?

Perhaps an error in communication and the cost of all 3 together is $28M?

Yes, pretty sure that's correct. The number I was aware of would put it at 28mm GBP closer to the real number for all three.

The second of the three Rolls Royce Boat Tail will be unveiled in May at Villa d'Este, and it will have a different bodywork.

Id much rather have an old one, a ghost of some sort and a new Murry t33.
Clearly were back to the era of the Sultan of Brunei where people will pay near unlimited funds for "unique" cars just cause.

I think it has more of a Corniche shape than Phantom DHC shape. It’s a longer, tapered look.

The platform is from Phantom, but they’ve slimmed the appearance of the car.
