After Lawrence Stroll bailed out Aston-Martin Lagonda, Toto bought a 4.7% interest in the Company. He also owns a 30% stake in the MercedesAMG Petronas F1 team. Remember, Toto is a multi-multi-millionaire, a very wealthy man in his own right, estimated to have a net worth of $450,000,000 . He has every reason to want Aston's F1 team to perform well, thus reflecting well on the production cars.

Seb, in one race, passes Stroll in the WDC points standings.

    Seb 10pts

    Stroll 9pts.

I'm glad to see Seb finding his legs finally.

Not such a surprise that he outdid Stroll at Monaco: This track requires experience and Vettel had it in abundance.

Stroll did pretty well too, improved grid position by 5 places, not shabby for somebody "who just drives around".

Seb actually did a good job today.

With his experience, it should be a weekly or bi-weekly comment yes? :)

I guess we have all gotten out of the habit of giving Seb any praise.

Today maybe he will start a small climb. Many more races are needed to see. In defense of Stroll, Monaco is never a place he excelled at all. I expected Vettel to lead him here.

Every driver in the field except Max gained two positions through Leclerc's DNS and Botta's DNF.

Was there even a single pass for position on track (excepting the first lap) ??

One that came close to a pass was Gasly-Vettel...but no pass after the 1st lap.

Such a 'classy' race though lol :) Shows how easily the super wealthy are entertained.

I saw Stroll missing the corner at pool exit twice, jumping the curbs. And after those jumps he crossed the line at pit exit.
Three driver errors in one Grand Prix isn’t really doing well. Even if you were lucky twice not to hit the wall or getting penalized.

Stroll DID NOT cross the line at pit exit. His front left ran over the pit lane exit line.

    The stewards investigated it....no penalty.

Yep. I don't even know why it was investigated. It was so clear cut that it wasn't a pit lane exit violation. Also don't blame him for missing the curbs at the 2nd swimming pool. If you're going to go wide at Monaco, that's the place to do it. Vettel clearly outdid him this weekend but me, as a harsh critic of Stroll, he's a world of difference from his first 2 years to now.

At this point he's certainly not unworthy of occupying his F1 seat.

Kudos to you for acknowledging the progress in Stroll's driving.

Ol' washed up Seb didn't have to work hard to show up the kid today, did he?

I wonder if Big Daddy Stroll chews him out about numbskull moves like this?

Not at all. A comforting hug, new installation of funding in the trust fund to ease the pain of that 'wind gust' that pushed him into the barrier lol

In fairness to Stroll he made a mistake (while pushing on a hot lap) that lots of the other top guys did, he owned up to it and immediately apologized to his team. Not exactly the behavior of a supposed rich kid. More and more this guy is earning his place in the sport.
