Once again a solid performance who kept his wheels on the tarmac, unlike many others in the challenging conditions of Imola. And he passed a few cars including Bottas. Had his team mate under control during the whole race.

7th place despite break problems at the beginning and shift issues towards the end. Very well done and more WDC points garnered.

Not a bad performance from Lance in view if the aero handicap his car is suffering.
Lawrence Stroll may have second thoughts about having recruited Vettel.
The 4 time WDC isn't delivering the goods, is he?

Seb is living the good live while still pretending to be a F1 driver.

He peaked early, well done to him.

Once again a good drive. Note: I did not say 'race'.

He was very fortunate he did not lose a place in the final 2 laps, again.

Actually without the shifting issue he would have snatched 6th from Ricci. He was within DRS range.

Vettel is making this look too easy for Lance lol. Then we should not be surprised. Vettel is out of it overall. He looks the least like a WDC than others. Long season yet but he needs help now lol :)

We can only hope that Vettel will get used to the Aston and gives a better show in future.

He is on a one-year contract, no?

A good question on the contract time-frame. Not certain!

Actually in qualifying as well as in the race (before chaos started) Vettel looked exactly the same as last year in the Ferrari: Never making it out of Q2 and in the race fighting around P14 while his team mate is several positions ahead of him.

Different car, different team, different year, yet similar outcome.

Apparently, Vettel told the media that he still doesn't "feel at home" in his new car.

You make of that what you want ...

  11. DF1

Very very true. He has changed cars and not results. To be honest I am a touch surprised. Literally different team, team colors, car and new team, same results.

It looks to me like Vettel isn't trying anymore.
His ambition has been fulfilled in his early years.
Now his motivation is gone, and he driving without conviction.
I think the same about Kimi.
At least Nico Rosberg was honest and left ...

Lance often excels on the opening lap but he has some tough competitors ahead of him--Danny Ricc, Kimi, Tsunoda and Fernando. This will be interesting.

At least Kimi admits and, and it's inspiring to see somebody that old still being respectable. He's what? almost double the age of some of these young guns?

    Vet, I'm without words.

007, pretty funny given his AM ambassadorship

Well, the last race showed an improved version of Vettel. Q3 and no spin in the race, all pretty good. Maybe he will improve as the season progresses.

I think he is finally settling in with the team (not quite sure why it took him so long but anyway). His performance in Portugal was evenly matched with Lance's during the race, so he clearly improved. He also stated this week that the team needs to get better at qualifying. Both cars had a dismal P3 and that continued for Lance in quali. Seb did much better but then regressed during the race probably because the car is no longer a top ten car being high rake and all. Seb's quali at Portimao was probably flattering the car. So I'm not sure we will see further Q3 for the drivers but more likely Q2 for both drivers. I just don't think there is more in this car than places around P12 to P14, which won't bring them any points. The team will fall back in the WCC compared to last year and I'm sure they know that.

I wish things were different, but this is probably where it's at. Hoping for a better year for the team in 2022.
