Are any members here planning to attend the auction on May 20th? If so, your reports would be appreciated. Thanks. Jack
I will be on hand with my wife and several friends and clients. More than a fair number of the prime lots have passed through my hands over the years and I am keen to see which ones find new homes. As for reports on the sale, RMs website will be updated with sales results shortly after the sale is over. For those attending who wish to chat or say hi, my USA mobile phone (619 840 7811) will be the quickest way to reach me. I will also have limited access to my email account, usually in the mornigns and evenings ([email protected]) Cheers, Bill Noon
I will be there too. And - being an auction junkie for 20 years - I have to say that the RM Maranello catalogue is outstanding this time. Regards Wolfi

950K Euros ($1.42M USD), plus commission, for a nothing special (there were lots of things wrong with that car from the pictures) Daytona Spyder is amazing. I can only imagine what the Garrison car will do at Monterey this August. It must be a typo, or Daytona Spyders are now at their 89 peak (well, almost, one did supposedly sell for $1.5M fight before the crash). Steve
330TRI/LM, sold for : $8 776 300.00 USD + premium. 340/375MM, sold for : $5 197 884.00 USD + premium. EDIT/ with the 12% : $9 829 456.00 USD for the LM winner Testa-Rossa.
I am headed back to the States this morning after one of the best Italian holidays I have ever had. The sale was impossible to describe. I have never seen its equal anywhere ever, bar none! Various sights have the results posted. Commissions were 12% when you factor in the Italian VAT on top of the RM Buyer's commission. Not one of the older car's were a suprise on the market with most having been for sale for multiple years. The sales results were however staggering to say the least. Most cars ran 30 to 40% higher than my estimates for a full retail sale. One 275GTS set a price record I am still having a hard time believing. The Daytona Spyder was nice, not quite as tidy as the last one I had earlier this month. The sales price was however a world record. Warm regards, Bill Noon
It will be interesting to see where the cars end up. Twenty years ago the Japanese were fueling the market and this time it seems like new collectors are entering the market from all over? David
Jim, thanks for pointing out the error. My exchange rate was right, but my before/after commission was wrong. I estimated the commission and tacked it onto the sale (950K Euro @ 1.34) and got $1.42M. If 12% is correct, then it would have come to $1.425M. Either way, it's big money for a decent, but not great, Spyder. The other sale prices were amazing as well. As Bill pointed out, most of these cars have made the rounds to all the usual suspects with no takers at much less money. Steve
True, but I'm more shocked about the DNS status on the F40 Prototipo. But then again, there had always been a chance of that because the Prototipo is not exactly US legal from what I have gathered.
