I am so shocked, and saddened by this news. What a gentleman, enthusiast, and great guy. A true loss in so many ways. RIP Franco.

It is great to see all of the people that loved and admired Franco pay tribute to him. He and I worked for many years together and i enjoyed most every minute of it. I will share a saying that Franco used to use with me when he became more than a little heated or frustrated with a situation or an individual working at Shelton....

He would walk over to me, put his arm on my shoulder and "Mr. Shelton, do yourself a favor, fire them all and start over."

    That was his humor.

We shared some beers, some tears and tons of laughter along the way.

We'll miss you buddy. God Speed

I've known and respected Franco for more years than I can remember!
Every time my late Father visited Shelton he would make it a point to have a lengthy conversation (in Italian) with Franco.
I remember Franco telling me back then that my dad has too much time on his hands! lol
They, and I, share a passion for Ferrari that has lasted (and will last) a life time........
My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Very sad to hear this. Franco took me under his wing when I joined Chinetti Motors in 1975. Very kind and patient. Fabulous mechanic and great friend. We will all miss him dearly.

I heard the news when I arrived for cavallino. All I can say is that we lost a great man. I was a Pleasure and honor to have worked with him at Shelton. As steve Jr. said he had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life and will be very much missed.

i was in greenwich last month visiting my mother. while there i went in the see my dear friend jean louis to talk about old times. i asked if he had heard from franco lately and i was then told that franco had passed away. it was sad to hear this. i felt badly that i did not hear of this in time for me to pay my proper respects.

franco (along w/ coco, jean louis and bob peak) was a great fun person and taught me so much about ferrari. i began making a pest of myself at age 13 and hung out at le mans 24 with jean louis and franco every saturday. i arrived in the morning and asked them all question after question about ferraris and nart. i was introduced to the joy of ferrari and the boxer and daytona were my favs. i watched franco work on the eastwood 365 bb and remember telling him that someday i would own a boxer too! he was very encouraging and told me to watch closely so i could work on my own car when that day came. franco also introduced me to the joy of a really hot cup of coffee on a really cold morning :)

i remember when franco left greenwich and i remember that i felt that was a sad day and that hte old ferrari guard was was slowly falling by the wayside and the nart days and their glory were fading away.

i wish i had been able to tell franco personally...that the day did in fact come when i got my boxer. he would have been proud !

sorry to wake up this thread. r.i.p. my friend.

It's actually nice to see your comments Peter, thank you.

I had lunch with Al Thursday and we spoke of Franco often. Im lucky to have known him and I enjoy sharing his memory with my friends. It's nice to see he remains in our thoughts.

Every time I stop by the dealer I miss his smiling face. Things just arent the same without him around. Rest in peace!
