I'm on a museum kick and will be visiting the Philadephia Museum of Art Sunday, for the Matisse exhibit. Mid-Atlantic FChatters did so well for me last week recommending restaurants near Winterthur in Delaware, I'm trying them again for a place near the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Casual atmosphere with good food, nothing too fancy, would suit us fine. We would like to stay within a 15-20 drive of the museum, and don't mind walking a bit if there are places within walking distance. Thanks for the help!

15 minutes or less gets you into the downtown, or over to South Street, and up through Chinatown.

tons of places, so let's narrow it down a bit.

Good food. Understood - a must.

Price for the meal. Under $50 each, $25 each or price is NOOO Object. Oh, booze must be available, right, don't want a BYOB?

http://www.thewaterworksrestaurant.com/main.cfm water works. Walking distance. I have not been here, have been to the others and liked them a lot.

Just a couple I could think of off the top of my head.

The Water Works is amazing this time of the year...you can sit and over look the water and it is very close to where you will be.
L'Oca is a great Italian BYOB and is right next to Eastern State Penitentiary which has a fun Halloween themed tour and is also walking distance. L'Oca is better priced and has a more interesting menu.

Jack's Firehouse is a good one.

I'll shift my vote to that.

Thanks again to all who posted suggestions for a restaurant near the Philadelphia Museum of Art. We delayed visiting the museum by one week due to the rain last weekend, but made it yesterday. I had not been to this museum before and was very impressed with both the collections (thought hardly made a dent seeing them) and the location. What a gorgeous site. We took advantage of the wonderful fall day and walked from the museum to Jack's Firehouse Restaurant. Excellent! All in all, a very nice day--except for the @QWSA!XX traffic on I-76 driving to the museum. On a Sunday morning yet. Go figure.
