I just saw this thread again..and still makes me incredibly sad....we lost touch with him just before i went on vacation last year (i'll be going again saturday)...i often though about him those days, i was a bit worried with his absense...only to find out what happened a few days later...no doubt the nicest guy aroung f.1 section, one who would always be around here....we miss you my friend, it was a privelege to share so many races with you, and i'm sure you will keep watching from up there...this year more then ever...

It's good to remember old friends.
May he be driving even faster on the streets of heaven, to paraphrase Nuvolari's epitaph.

Timely bump, I noticed a Fast Ian post on a revived SR71 post in the AviatorChat section. Looking back, it seems he passed on around this time last year, or at least that's when we got word.

    Gone, but not forgotten.

Ian you are remembered. It is authentic and amazing that so many here have expressed it. That is the true sum of ones life when they live on through others' thoughts.

We had our little wager on Micheal vs Nico and I mentioned the third season could be all or nothing. Ian said no chance and asked for an address. The three bottles of California Pinot Noir arrived shortly thereafter in PEI and I honestly couldn't believe it.
An erudite gentleman who was always very kind with my often shortsighted critique on several races, especially knowing his firsthand knowledge of the sport. Missing his comments every race.

Very true, knowledgeable and always responded like a gentleman.

(and I must admit I once responded far less gentlemanlike, which I regret)

Don't know him, never met him, but seemed like a great guy.

I really enjoyed his chats and POV on everything. I think actually my favourite times chatting with him where in between weekends and he talked about his time in F1/F3 etc.

Remember last year at Spa, Andrew arranged kindly the silence before the race in memory of Fast Ian ?

Perhaps we can do a repeat this year?

I think it would be a nice gesture...As others said, Ian was a very fair person, i remenber he liked Alonso, and i was constantly bashing him (an opinion that most didn´'t share at the time), but i exposed my views and why i didn't like him, and Ian always defended me against those who criticized my opinion, even if he himself thought diferently. I also regret he once got banned for again defending me against TOIL..but that was him, always a gentleman but he would say what needed to be said, no matter what....i deeply regret not talking to him a lot more often, it would have been wonderfull to meet him in person...and i still miss him almost everytime i open the f.1 section.
    Ps. Lovely pic Iz :)
